Default truck or mustang

here in missouri we get some snow like the past few days and it crossed my mind... maybe i could look into getting a fast truck instead of a 96-98 4.6 mustang. so i did some looking around and in my price range is the early 2000's v8 dodge dakota. i have seen them around here for $4-6,000. they have 230hp/300tq and weigh roughly 3500 lbs, now the stang has 215hp/285tq and weigh 3100 lbs

now i cannot understand how 15 more hp and tq but 400 lbs heavier can give it an 8.? sec 0-60 where the mustang has a low 6.? sec 0-60

i ask because i have had 600 lbs of people in my lil 4cyl mazda and it didnt seem like it would slow it down 2 seconds to the 0-60 mark, i actually barely notived a difference

every 100 of pounds is supposedly a 10th of a second in a quarter mile... thats a general rule of thumb

What the hell,Get Both!! For approx every 100 LBS you lose about a tenth in the quarter. The difference is probably in the gearing!![8D]

well if i can get the truck as fast as a mustang then that is what i would like to do.. if i can just swap heads on the dakota to get it as fast if not faster than a mustang then y not (plus it wont get stuck in the snow, offroad is available, and i can carry some stuff around)
