It will fit, will need the 351 brackets for the alt, A/C PS, etc.... I think you will need a 351 flywheel and balancer as well for the right imbalance. (or are early 302s 50 oz. ?? I don't think so..) Your exhaust manifolds should work, or if you have headers they might work.
All of the above assuming a 302 is in the car now.
Mounts and most other parts are the same, 302 intake manifold wont work.

If you are not quite as smart as you think, are you smart enough to know?
Maybe my question should read; what yearwas there a change from the 351 windsor that came in 1969 mach 1 to the newer engine/ electrinic ignition. I have a chance to get a 1974 windsor and seems like there is a change around 1972 or 74 to where it is more of a pain than using the "early block)

There is no real difference between an early 351 and a late 351, up through 74 it is the same engine, you should have no issues.
Even the last 351 W produced (1982?, 1988?) will bolt in with minimal issues.

The emission heads showed up in the early-mid 70's. Engines were detuned starting in '72, all in the name of emissions. Other than that, 351W's are basically the same.
If you are talking about putting a 351W into a 1974 Mustang II, it will fit but she's a tight squeeze. I did one in 1986 for a buddy of mine and we used headers for the 302.
Not sure what change you are talking about on the 351W. The deck height changed from 9.48 to 9.5" in 1971, I believe, but that shouldn't impact what you are doing.
