Default 93 LX recent purchase

Hey all this is William.... Here is the story...

I recently purchased an 89 GT black.. but it had been pretty much stripped they were going to make a race car
out of her.... But I had been looking for something to play with and the guy had too many toys already.......

I purchased her and brough her home started trying to find parts and seeing everything that was missing decided
that it was going to be way too much work and cash out put because of all the little pieces....... So in looking
I ran across this car:

its a 1993 Mustang LX with Sunroof and has an 87 302 from a Lincoln roller block (I was told not sure yet.....)
With an Edelbrock intake and Holley 650 (vacuum secondaries... ) and stock heads.

it still has the 4cyl rear end and Transmission......

I bought it and sold the 89 GT.... I actually like the look of the LX better im not big on the ground effects I like to
be able to see the exhaust ok well the tail pipes anyway lol....

In finding out the 93 still had the 4 cyl rear end.... I called the guy I sold the GT to and offered to buy back the rear end....
its an 8.8 already setup with 3.73 gears... He agreed (he crashed his car and needed the body parts from teh one I sold him)
I get those back one day this week... so cool there....

Purchased an MSD 6al box and blaster 2 coil and as well a distributor for it since it had a procomp one in there... and it had to go....

A frind of a frind (really good guy) installed the ignition parts and fired it up (oh it wasnt running when I got it as the pro comp had
burned out electronics init) I understand why the guys wiring job sucked.... Big time...
And it is losing compression on one cyl... im not sure which one.. I have to go over and check on the car But I believe it to be gaskets honestly...
you can tell that someone tried to redo the gaskets and did a bad job there as well.... So my guess is that they had the heads off and in putting
them back on they 1. screwed up the gaskets (I know hard to do but......) 2. messed up rockerarm or bent push rod 3. didnt tighten them properly
and now its warped so the back cyl(I blieve) is lifted up and losing compression that way.... or 4. worst case that cyl is losing it around the piston....
Its causing it to skip badly..... (any ideas here would be greatly appreciated.....

Should I rebuild this engine since its a roller with what I was told (I havent seen it for myself yet) are forged pistons and just go with over sized rings
etc.. complete rebuild.... Or find a long block - pulleys and such since I have them?

If I pull this apart can I gain anything by going with a 331 crank? and keep the stock pistons and rods(They are forged)
what heads should I run with the intake that is on the car? and I know the 650 with vacuum secondary needs to be replaced with a double pumper...

Thanks and nice to meet you guys.. I know a lot for a first post... Sorry.

William

These are all before pics.... There will be more as I go forward with this project.........

UPDATE..... The dead miss was the results of shotty mechanic or shadetree one or the other... I just heard from my buddy he finally had time to tear it down for me..... They cross threaded one of the Rocker assy's and it was broken..... Also they did not put the dowel pins in the driver side head... it had been slipping and would have also caused me issues...... and finally the Cam they had installed had some rust pitting on it so it was crap as well....(Its a good thing my buddy was giving me a B 303 cam anyway.... ) Also he has a Fresh set of stock heads that have not been long come from the machine shop... he isnt going to use so they will go on as well... The good news is it is a roller block with forged pistons etc...... and the rest looks like its in great shape.... I should have some pictures soon and I will post them....

Oh on a side note.... I bought back the 8.8 rear end with 3.73 gears from the GT roller I sold for $50.00 (complete from Wheel/tire to Wheel/tire and also the springs and shocks as they were fairly new ) wooo LOL... Its sitting on my trailer awaiting the car to come home then I will get that all installed.

Will keep you all informed as I get more information....

Thanks
