Default GAUGE PROBLEMS PLEASE HELP

I just bought some glowshift gauges for my car. I was hooking up the water temp and oil psi. I got the oil psi to work but the water temp doesnt. I grounded the sender unit and wired it to the gauge. the gauge is grounded and the wire to the ignition switch is hooked up. When i turn the key on the needle shoots to 250 degrees and then when i start it, it never goes back. What do i do??
