Default TO ALL WHO HAVE DRIVEABILITY PROBLEMS ENTER HERE

iv'e noticed that we have alot of 5.0 drivers who are experiencing
some agravating driving glitches....or hesitation problems.....

i want all who have this describe what's going...and if you have experienced this in the past, and have fixed it tell us what it was that, caused it...

i just want to get a post started so that we can help each other out,and get our steeds running right....so we don't make stupid choices of saying "hell with it.",and putting a FOR SALE ON OUR CAR'S!!!

Default RE: TO ALL WHO HAVE DRIVEABILITY PROBLEMS ENTER HERE

Hey you rember the post a while back about my car missing from idle to 1500rpm or so. well I found out what the problem was, First of I replaced a vaccume line coming out from the intake manifold the on that goes to the black canister on the passenger side in the front. Well that fixed it for about a week. Before I replaced the vaccume line the Check engine light and hte low oil light would come on. After I fix the vaccume leak the check engine light didnt come on for about a week and It also fixed the missing problem. Well after a week the missing/idle problem came back and the check engine light comes on sometimes when I drive I have about had it with the car, this problem also makes me get 8-9MPG so I need to fix it soon. on other thing I have to do is a KOER test, But how do I test if the check engine light comes on when I drive? But for those who have Idle problems check your vaccume lines. that might help.

-First of all do the easy stuff: set TPS, clean TB and IAC

-Then use carb cleaner or intake cleaner and spray it in the engine bay to find vacuum leaks. If there are any fix them.

-If problems persist get a shop to hook a scan tool to it to look for error codes.

Alot of the problems that are mentioned are symptoms of vacuum leaks, and emmissions equipement failure.

I had a problem like that a while ago.It was the lower intake gasket leaking. It was hard to find.It was leaking under the throttle body. Finally found it using carb. cleaner.Spraying it had to hit it just perfect to find it.

Sorry for the bad drawling, this is how to do a self test. Their are two plugs near the fire wall on the drivers side that are unpluged. Take a jumper wire from the small plug to the #2 pin on the large plug, then take a test light from #4 pin on the large plug to the pos. on your battery. The engine must be runing for this. When you first plug it in it should flash 4 times meaning its a V8, then you should get one quick flash wich eaquals 10 this is a seporator code. Then it will flash a series of times. example: code 41 will be 4 flashes then a short pause then one more flash then a long pause and will go onto the next code. code 40 will be 4 quick flashes then a long pause and onto the next code. This is a link to what all the codes are. http://www.dalidesign.com/hbook/2digit.html

everybody I know with a modified mustang has some kind of problem, I think thats probably why people buy pms systems. Does anybody have or know anybody with a modified stang that has the drivability of a stocker?
