Thanks alot man! You are right. Its an aftermarket stereo for the 10 dics cd changer that is in the trunk. Its about as old as the car is though. I pull out the cage, and unscrewed the bracket in the back. Almost every wire unplugged. But it is a mess.
- No amp ( im cool with that ) - I plan to rewire everything. - The speakers in the back, the wires for them are just hanging there...
I dont think it was done up very well. The only thing that i know of that has power is the cd changer! All of the speaker wires where the deck goes look fine. The back speakers look messed up. Like not even wired.
I am hoping that the fronts are still good. There are so many wires. The are all labeled to some extent. Does someone have a link to a stock wiring diagram?! for the car?
Original Post: So, everything sound wise in this car is perfect. And quiet. Including the sterio. Its stock, and not working.
I bought the car Monday,. ( first car, i am 17 ! )
And to my suprise, it has a 10 disc cd changer in the back. The sterio, i can pull out. The deck is getting replaced.
My question to you is:
1. Is there a proper adapter for the attachment i have in the car?
2. Is there a stock amp hidden in the car somewhere? I cant find it.
3. How many speakers are in this car? Like i said i jsut got it, havent looked it over that well yet. ( i located the trucks and door pannels. )
Thats all ican think of for now. I am probaly gonig to replace it all with something decent in the future. I refuse to have massive subs. I am just looking for a sweet sound, and the engine already gives me that.
I now have photos. Fist of all, you all said the amp may be under the passenger seat. I wet and looked, and all there is is this wire. Whats it for? And was there an amp previously here? It is used for power seats. Thanks for the response.
Second here is the open sterio hole:
Here is a picture of the adapter way in the back that fits the head deck i have now. I have a question, can i find an attachment for that peice there, or to i have to restrip the wire? I removed the cage and adapter. I am donw to bare wires with male end i think.
And lastly, i just noticed this today when i got the light out. Ther is a big mess of wires under where the sterio would go. Would i ahve to route all of these to an adapter? Or can i buy a plug in for the photo above ^ ? All of these wires that i have below are a mess. I moved the cage, and now i am sorting them out. I think i am gonig to rewire.

as he said pull the deck and look below it to see if there is an octagonally shaped metal box with a bunch of holes in it, also look under the passenger seat. You can wire into the system or around it with out much problem if you know where to look, and we can get you there if you need.....
Alright sweet! So under the passenger seat? Thats easy to access. Alright, i have the speakers under control. I located them all. Ill take a look tonight. But the wires that are behind the head deck are messed up. Ill take a picture.
that connection under the seat is for a power seat.
you have an old pull out stereo mounted in the car, I gotcha now. You will not be able to get a hrns to match that and slide it in as you would hope to. You will need to remove the metal cage, and then see what kind of wiring you have left..... The factory amp if there is one will be below that cage and below the wiring mess unfortunatly. If that were to come into my shop I would cut out all the old useless stuff and start fresh but if you are lucky they used an integration hrns and you can just disconnect it.......
I am a little confused as to how it is mounted as it looks like they kept the stock pocket, hopefully it is not glued on. There are some small metal tabs on that cage at the very front of it that hold it into the dash. Pry them out and the cage should come out unless they got fancy and used a backstrap...........
