Default havent been around much...

so some of you may have noticed i haven't been around here much lately (the mustang forums altogether, not just 4.0 section). For multiple reasons i have been trying to get into a new ride for over a month, but i just keep coming up with reasons not to get ______ . Originally i was pretty dead set on an 04 gto, but then i thought well i will probably be going to school in CO sophomore year, so i should get something at least decent in the snow so i started looking at sti's, but then i decided i wanted something that could handle more power, then i looked at supras but they are overpriced BLAH BLAH BLAH and im going ****ing crazy here. I have no idea what to do. So many cars appeal to me in different ways, and im just so confused, so i need some ideas! I have about 5k that i had saved up for forced induction on the 4.0, along with let's say 17k (what i will probly get for my car) and my parents said they would help out quite a bit as a grad present, let's say 1-2k. so i have roughly 24-25k to spend already and im lookin for a job somewhere, so let's say by the time i do this (hopefully early summer) i'll have high 20's to spend. I need something that can handle the snow at least decently, so no vette's or i would be right in a c5 z06. what would you guys be buying if you were in my situation and why? I am so confused about this it is unbeleivable help me think straight!

I don't know what to tell you. Try to step back and think about what's really important to you..are you satisfied with what you have.. and if you are willing to sacrifice that money to replace a car that has nothing wrong with it. The grass is always going to be greener.

Don't mind me though.. I'm getting too old to give the type of advice that would get you into a new car.

I would keep the Mustang and just put some snow tires on it.

Seriously, these things are great, easy/affordable to mod, on and on and on.

And I live way north in Edmonton, Canada and have to deal with ugly snowy bs weather like 5 months of the year. Mustang has yet to cause any problems in the snow, and that's on stock Pirelli's and with no weight in the trunk.

Throw some Blizzak's or whatever on that girl and she'll be fine for the snow in CO. They do plow the roads when it's snowy there, I'm sure. Just no off-roading...

I know you're looking for something a little more practical for the climate, but really, the Mustang is passable in those kinds of weather conditions, and personally I know I would regret getting rid of my Pony because of the local weather. These cars have too much going for them to just ditch because of a little snow.

If I was in your shoes...I'd spend it on a GT and get snow tires like raubt said. Hell with that kind of money (high 20's K) you could maybe even get a slightly used GT, use the stock rims for the winter tires, then get sweet new rims and new tires for the nice weather and still have some left over for mods. I gotta drive up a hill everyday to my house in Montana winter weather; they plow most of the roads, and my stang does just fine. The roads are gunna be plowed where you go to college in CO, probably even better than here. You'll be fine. If they are that bad where you can't get any traction than you probably shouldn't be out risking driving ANY car, supra or stang. I just think if you are looking to upgrade, no imports, you gotta stick with a stang.

BTW good to see you in here again 8cd, don't be a stranger[8D]

I'd trade your 4.0L for a GT that way you will still have a lot of cash left over for mods and such. If you don't like that idea and rather keep your 4.0 then get the Subi Sti Itsa great car withplenty of power and its goodin the snowIMO.

If I was in your shoes I would wait it out till next fall and buy either the new Camaro with the LS7, or the new challenger. Either way you prolly wont like my opinions because Im biased on Ford, Chevy, Dodge. Not much on imports due to limited parts availability and also the price of maintenance and repair cost. I know that when the Camaro comes out it will be very very very hard not to get one.
