I picked up a nice console for my '67 Coupe at the Houston Autorama. It came with the shifter and a bracket. Before I get started installing it, I'd like to know a couple things:

1. Where does that bracket bolt to? I'm sure it bolts to the dash somewhere, but I'm not sure where.

2. Where will I find wiring for the lights in the console? Iassume the wire that connects to the current shifter will operate the console's gear position lights. There's light that comes on when the door is opened. Where will I find a plug for that?

3. My car has air. I've replaced the compressor, condensor, and lines (upgraded to a Sanden) but the thing still doesn't blow cold. In the spring I'm considering replacing everything with a VintageAir upgrade. Will the console be in the way?

There are two different consoles, one for cars with and one for cars without air. The cars with air have a shorter console. The part that goes under the dash in considerably shorter than those without air.

Which bracket are you talking about? There is a special radio bracket that is needed to hold the back of the radio up. If you do not have that, or a similar bracket in place and just rely on the console to hold the radio in place, the console will crack.

As far as the wiring goes, I just fabbed up my own.

I have in-dash air. Are you telling me the cosole wont fit? I can't see any reason why it wouldn't.

Fabbing your own wires is fine and good as long as you know what to connect them to. Not much help there.

The wires are there for the console lights. Use the shifter wiring plug and there is another plug under the dash by the radio that you will need to use. All stock harnesses will have them. If you don't have the wiring in the console it is a vailible from most vendors. that would be the easiest. The lights should come on when you open the door. I can't remember if they have a bracket that mounts on the floor to hold the front of the console. I would have an A/C shop look at the A/C before spending more money on another one.
