apparently you relly have to get the cams too to see an icrease. with those you should see a major difference.

Porting your stock heads would be a viable alternative to buying aftermarket heads. The 3.8L guys have been P&P'ing their heads for a while (intakes too, but you can't port the plastic intakes on the 4.0L's). A dyno tune would be required after porting the heads on a 4.0L. On a HP per dollar basis, that would most likely be a better choice than aftermarket heads. Throw new/regrind cams into the mix, and your improvements will be even better. A point to consider with a new cam is how it will afffect your power band and driveability of the car. You may end up with a hi-revving screamer at the track, but the everyday use of the car may be sacrificed. The 4.0L heads and cams are still new territory for us to explore, and as more people try them, we can all learn from their efforts.

There was one guy who put on new heads and got about 25RWHP, he hit 201HP without a tune and CAI, only cams, valves and head work. The tuner thinks on a better weather day and the tuner CAI he could easly hit 25HP!
Like 28hop said, P&P would be cool but I think valve work and springs would help alot too.

how could he not get the claimed increase? his car is the one that they found the increase on lol.

with stage 3+ SSM heads and cams, I would be willing to bet that you would make about the same power as a standard Vortech or X

they may be able to, I know VMP does a distance tuning thing, where they send you a tune, then you run it and log it, and then they send you another tune, and that happens till it is done
