Default HP vs TOURQUE

im building a 66 mustang and want maximum speed/performance out of it, the question is if i should put a stroked 351 for huge torque (less rev) or rebuild the 289 thats in it and get high revving hp moter? im very confused as to wich will work better in a semi light car. what do you guys think? help please!

why not stick with just the 351 and not stroke it (hehe stroke it) and have the best of both worlds. just my $0.02

you could forget them both and have some monster torque in a 460

I would go with the bigger engine. To spin a 289 faster than the 351 will cost more because the stress on the crank and rods will be higher. You could build the 351 just as strong and spin it just as fast with bigger HP gains and about the same money.

yea if I remember correctly I don't think it was settled

Its funny how a nitrous stang with 390 rwhp and 500 rwtq is slower through the 1/4 both et and mph wise vs a stang with 25 more hp and 125 less tq [] It ain't about how much torque you can put to the tires, its about getting the tires moving the fastest

its all about hp & the practicle aspects of using it. meaning you build the motor for hp, then you gear it so you can be in the peak range most of the time for whatever you are doing.

torque & hp tell 2 sides of the same story. one describes a force (torque) the other the amount of work you can do with that force (hp).

LOL. Not this again. Get the same number HP as torque and call it a day. Everyone happy?
