Cooter 12-09-2007, 03:53 PM You better get call waiting!
Nabster 12-09-2007, 05:51 PM Alright, probably about time I get in on one of these then, can never get enough microfibers.
What sort of wax/sealant would you recommend for a light green colored car? I'm looking for something that has good protection against dirt and tree sap, bird droppings etc since it is a daily driver- see the link below for a (large) picture.
http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/843/nabster6901passengersidrd5.jpg
Cooter 12-09-2007, 06:02 PM Hypershine sealant or Opti-Seal. I think those would look good on that color.
Juztang 12-09-2007, 06:11 PM First I would use my Light Polish or Optimum Polish to clean the paint, correct light swirls and scratches, plus bring out more shine and reflection. Then I would top with eithe my Hyper Shine or Optimum Opti Seal Sealant as Cooter mentioned.
They Hyper Shine goes on and off more like a wax and the Opti Seal is a walk on and walk away product, you don't have to buff off, it just dissappears.
Let me know if you have anymore questions.
Nabster 12-09-2007, 06:13 PM Alright, I'll look in to ordering later after I get off work. Thanks for the help.
Cooter 12-09-2007, 06:19 PM I think the Hyper Shine would really bring that color out really nice. The opti-seal is pretty amazing too. I used the hyper shine on my black mustang once, and it really glowed. It looked good enough like it was without needing to be topped.
Here's a pic of my car with the hypershine sealant. Its behind the white Altima. The Altima was poli-sealed and topped with Nattys Red btw =)

Nabster 12-10-2007, 12:23 AM Alright looking now I see the optimum products look to be used with a buffer, I don't have one that I'm comfortable using on the car, so it looks like the light polish and hyper shine will be the way I need to go.
Juztang 12-10-2007, 01:16 AM The Optimum Polish actually works really well by hand or with a buffer, it has light abrassives and is a good finishing polish.
I think you will be very happy with the Light Polish by hand topped with the Hyper Shine. With the Light Polish I recommend doing small sections at a time. With the Polish you don't have to use that much at all, a little bit will go a long way, just basically work it in until it almost dissappears and then take off. Then apply the Hyper Shine, with this a little bit will go a long way too. You can do a panel and let it haze up or do the whole vehicle and then buff off, either way will work fine. I do recommend putting a second coat after 15 minutes to ensure the best coverage and durability.
Nabster 12-10-2007, 01:49 PM Ok, just put my order though, thanks for the help.
Juztang 12-10-2007, 02:27 PM Thank you! I will get that out today. I will also throw in your free Waterless Wash and 3 Microfibers!!
MemphiStang 12-11-2007, 12:49 PM Just put in my order, came out to $30.98 Had to fight to keep it that low... Really need something to help cleaning my rims but couldn't stomach $17 for Wheel Seal. Hopefully the Optimum No Rinse works as well for me as it did for the guy in the demo videos. Looking forward to getting the goods!

Thanks for your order! I will get that out today USPS Priority.
The Wheel Seal is really worth the money, you barely have to use any, a little bit will go a long way. It cleans, shines and protects all in one step.
I really think you are going to be happy with the No Rinse purchase, it is becoming so popular now.
MemphiStang 12-11-2007, 02:26 PM One of my main concerns was spending that much for just 8 oz of stuff. Seemed a tad excessive. I will keep it in mind for my next round of purchases though. I'm running low on interior cleaning supplies so it shouldn't be too long before I'm back. You really need to get some love for those of us with cloth upholstery!
Cooter 12-11-2007, 02:38 PM The Wheel Seal will really last a long time. An 8oz jar of paste wax will last you roughly 40 applications. Remember, thats a whole car. Imagine how many coats of wheel seal you could put on a car's wheels!!
Juztang 12-12-2007, 12:47 PM I lot of people have been taking advantage of this sale! You guys are keeping me busy!
Mustangmaster 12-12-2007, 01:38 PM I just ordered Optimum Opti Seal, a super thick sponge and 3 pack of super plush microfibers. This is a great advertising place for you. You could run specials all year around and be swamped all the time.
Nabster 12-12-2007, 08:46 PM Got mine today, should be good, but it may be a few (5 or so) months before I get to use them due to the weather. Hopefully though we'll get a break in the weather sooner.

Yeah hopefully the weather will get nice and you can try those products out!
Juztang 12-14-2007, 11:39 AM Today and tomorrow left!!!
DuFFMaNN 12-14-2007, 10:19 PM Ok Im looking to get a few things, because I want to start washing/detailing cars on the weekends for some extra cash. I need wax/polish at the moment, and maybe something for the rims, or some clay. What basic products would you reccomend for around $30. I am not trying to get everything I need, just a few things to get me to that $30 special.
Juztang 12-14-2007, 10:30 PM A good polish and wax combo would be my Obsessive Detail Light Polish and either Poorboy's Natty's blue paste wax or my Obsessive Detail Wet Wax. My wax is a liquid and the Natty's is a paste, they will both give a deep and wet look. A polish and wax would get you over the $30 mark.
Since you are planning on detailing cars on the side, I would think about getting Optimum Poli Seal. This is a paint cleaner, polish, and protectant. I use this almost everyday in my detailing business. This will also save you some money and you could get some other products.
For wheels my Wheel Seal is really popular, it cleans, shines and protects all in one step.
Let me know if you have anymore questions.
DuFFMaNN 12-15-2007, 04:59 PM so you use that instead of Polish?
I have never fully detailed a car, just washed/waxed. I am still trying to learn everything before I actually start detailing peoples cars for money. I plan on reading up a little and that start on mine/my parents cars.
Cooter 12-15-2007, 05:13 PM Poli-Seal is a polish and sealant combo. It works really good with a Porter Cable 7424 and by hand. It can remove some swirls and some imperfections. Its a great product. Pretty versatile and great protection. It doesnt dust either.
Visit autopia.org or detailuniversity.com and you can find all the info you need on car detailing. Also if you get a PC there are several videos on Youtube you can watch to get an idea how to use it. BTW. There are car detailing videos on youtube also from Expert Village. Do not go by those or the guy named Jason. The guy is really clueless. Spraying amino acids on his wheels.
DuFFMaNN 12-15-2007, 05:48 PM Thanks for the help. Everything I will do is by hand, being as I am a poor college student trying to make rent.:D
Oh and Juz, do you have AIM? Maybe you can help me out finding what I need. Thanks. AIM = RabidDuffMaN
Cooter 12-15-2007, 06:02 PM You should look at using Poli-Seal and Opti-Seal together. Or you could try using Poli-Seal and Optimum Spray wax. Both would be really good.If you want a really good look on your car try the Poli-seal and then the ObsessiveDetail Wet glaze followed by Optimum car wax or Opti-Seal.If you use the Poli-Seal, you can use the Optimum Spray wax to remove the Poli-seal and save yourself a step.
DuFFMaNN 12-15-2007, 06:15 PM Hmm, So the poliseal, and wetwax combo puts me over $30. I think I might go with those 2 for now, or is there something else I need to pickup now?
Looks like I will be doing a lot of reading on this, considering I underestimated how much I needed to know [&:][8D]:D
Cooter 12-15-2007, 06:36 PM Both of those will do you good.
Cooter 12-15-2007, 06:38 PM Be sure to get alot of quality microfiber towels. Some good brushes and a good All purpose cleaner.
DuFFMaNN 12-15-2007, 07:25 PM I already have 4-5 microfibers, plus the ones that come in the package. And I have a mit somewhere that my mother used on her benz b4 she sold it. Just gotta find it.:D

I've got 52 folded up in a tub behind me right now (and a few sponges and applicator pads and such), if I go out and clean my car thoroughly I'll go through half of them easily, and thats not even counting the interior or any I accidentally drop which go immediately into the dirty pile [X(]
Juztang 12-15-2007, 09:14 PM Yeah you can never have too many microfibers. I go through several hundered a week! [8D]
DuFFMaNN 12-15-2007, 11:51 PM haha, well the ammount I have now, plus 2 huge microfiber drying towels worked just fine last time. But all I did was wash/wax. I will eventually get more, just not at the moment.[8D]
Nabster 12-19-2007, 06:51 PM 35 degrees outside and a bit sunny, since I got my car cover back earlier I figured I may as well clean it up a bit before the cover goes on for winter. Here's the result of a quick once-over the waterless car wash with carnuba Justin sent me. Come springtime I'll use the polish and sealant I got before the car show I'm planning on attending.

Cooter 12-19-2007, 07:17 PM Lookin great Nabster. Man you really toughed that out. There's no way I'd be out there with 35 degree weather and snow on the ground. I know you cant wait to put those products to use.

Lived here all my life, 35 isn't much at all, I just had my jacket on. Starts getting cold when we get in the 20's with 20-30mph of wind constantly.

She can drool all she wants, this was my mom's high school car so it's not going anywhere [8D]
MemphiStang 12-20-2007, 02:59 AM Finally got around to using the No Rinse today. That stuff ROCKS. Cut my wash and dry time by quite a bit. And my rims.... I always dread washing them, and do a poor job as a result, but HOLY CRAP! They actually look chrome now :P Still need some work, but they are worlds better! Not sure what some of the stuff left on them is, but I'm kind of concerned about getting it off :( I may take them off, put the stock rims back on, and give them a thorough scrubbing and fixing up.
Juztang 12-20-2007, 11:33 AM I'm glad you are happy with the No Rinse. Everyone that has tried it have really liked it.
About your wheels, I have a metal polish that will work at cleaning them up. It is a polish but it will also leave a layer of protection behind.
MemphiStang 12-20-2007, 08:37 PM I have to get them completely cleaned up first. Took another look at them today when the light was better and I think it might be tree sap build up. Tomorrow I have some free time so I'm going to take one of them off and give it a good cleaning, see if I can't get rid of that problem and fix some curb rash. I'll be ordering some of that wheel polish and another bottle of No Rinse here soon. Showed my father how effective and simple it is and he keeps trying to steal it from me.
Juztang 12-20-2007, 09:48 PM If you got sap on your wheels you can use a claybar on them too. Have you tried to make a quick detailer with the No Rinse yet? It makes a great quick detailer that is very economical.
MemphiStang 12-21-2007, 04:35 AM I haven't been able to do much car maintenance lately due to the weather. Today is supposed to just be cloudy, no rain, so hopefully I can get back out there and give it another shot. I'm going to try the Waterless Wash as well as a more concentrated No Rinse solution on them and see how that turns out.
Juztang 12-21-2007, 11:02 PM I don't know if you noticed or not, but I also carry the No Rinse in gallon size. Your dad and you could split the gallon and it saves quite a bit of money!
MemphiStang 12-23-2007, 03:42 AM We live about 45 minutes apart so he has to get his own bottle :P I'm just home visiting between semesters at college.
Whatever was gunked up on my rims is gone now. Mixed up equal parts water and no rinse and let it sit on the spot for a few minutes and a little scrubbing took it off no problem. Next step is a little love with the Dremel and some buffing compound to get the scuffs fixed up so I can get them in shape to sell and move on to some more daily driving friendly rims. The 20s look gorgeous but there are just too many obstacles out there. Driving with them is more of a chore than an enjoyment :\
