Default 06 Evo Vs 08 Evo

Im reading the latest motor trend and according to there test the 08 evo cant hang with the 06. 06 power is 286hp 289tq 08 is 295 hp 300tq. The 06 does 0-60 in 4.7 with 13.4 quarter mile @102.2 and 08 0-60 5.4 quarter mile at 14.0 @96.9. Why would they wanna make it slower?

Did you read the article at all?

I think the Evo X has put on a few hundred pounds.

The new Evo x is a disgrace IMO. It may handle a little bit better, but there is NO excuse for making a car slower than the generation that preceded it. It's ugly as sin, but looks are subjective. However, the increased price, weight, and slower times just kills this car. You should hear what (most)Evo owners are saying about it......

I read that article too. The Evo X is an embarassment to Mitsubishi, it handles only a little bit better while adding weight, going slower, and costing more; not to mention that it looks like a retarted shark. Mitsubishi really needs to re-think the direction that they're taking the Evo, unless they're trying to lose customers.

I agree, Subaru did the same crap with the new WRX/STI. I think they are more worried about appealing to the masses and sales volume than what us gear heads want.......Bastards.

Not to mention that they have tamed the evo down alot by putting in an auto with that SST bull****. They used to be pretty cool cars as long as they weren't riced out.

Is all this really a bad thing? Any word on whether the X takes better to mods than the previous Evo's?
