Default Times for a 97

My buddy just picked up a 97 cobra with 5X,XXX original miles on it for 11 grand. I think he got a killer deal, he thinks he could have got it for less but thats not the point. As we speak he should be putting his DR on the car from his built 96 gt he had and we will probably be taking the car to the track this weekend if the weather holds up. My question is a completely bone stock 97 cobra with DRs should run about what? He is a pretty good driver and has good launches, usually 1.8-1.9 60' times. I want to bet him because he says that the car will probably be in the mid 14s, and I think if he gets a good launch he could get high 13s or at least a 14 flat. What should a decent time for a 97 be with a good driver and some DRs?

its possible to get into high 13's but most are around 14.0 14.1 range, hell prob just need a few runs to get use to his new car.. but if your sure about his consistent 1.8-1.9 60 ft, he should be able too

I am positive about the 60' times, every slip he has brought home from the track since he started modding his 96 has been at most a 1.9. That mother****er launches his cars hard, but he does it well.

A good driver and traction in a stock 97 Cobra shouldn't have any problems getting into the 13's. Some people do it on street tires. Putting my bench racing hat on.....I'd say 13.7 or 13.8.

Really? All the 96-98 cobras I have been looking at are at least 11K with twice the miles and no where near as good condition. Any other opinions for the times? If I can get enough people to positively confirm my thoughts then I'll bet him 100 bucks he hits 13s.

Not sure what market you're in, but I would say you did the equivalent of raping someone ! I sold mine back in March for $8400 with 79k.

I know this might be a little off my original topic but, people say an aluminum flywheel lets the engine rev easier because of the reduced weight and rotational mass and what not, but would an aluminum flywheel contribute to some lower ETs if a person is interested in building the fastest possible NA cobra without actually craking open the engine? i.e. gears, flywheel, full exhaust.

Most 96-98 cobras i see run mid to high 13s, to be stuck in the 14s probably means someones not a good driver
