Casper can you send the TSB's for the Radio Version A and The Gas tank. terryharder@comcast.net I sure would appreciate it!
I have an early O5 GT, got lucky and got the very first one in the Dealer. I have the premium GT with 5 sp auto.

Mine has the suspension noises when turning slowly and sharply like parking, the heater/defroster issue and
It has had vapor canister errors ( Check gas cap msg) and engine check lite. They replaced the canister but still set errors. They ran a smoke test and found a valve not seated in the new canister ( thats what they said), but same issue. I'm thinking it may be the gas tank.

The gas tank is almost impossible to fill fast and has been that way since day one. When empty it's very hard to fill, even very slow. Of course the dealer has found no TSB on the Gas tank but really is trying. I talked to the tech who really is frustrated and wants to get this fixed since I almost camp out there with this issue. It's annoying as hell when the engine check lite comes on and I have no way of knowing for sure if its the same problem without bringing it in for service. Thanks in advance!

I filled up for the second time last night and this time I didn't have any issues. The gas pump was different than the one that gave me problems. This one just had a round stopper piece instead of the accordian-style hose.

I think I'll wait a few more fill-ups to see if the problem surfaces again before I take it into the dealer.

BradC;

It will fill well on the old style pumps but on the new vapor recovery pumps it has taken me 20 minutes to fill up.
I have 6000 on mine and aside from stupid little annoying problems it is by far the funnest / fastest / best looking car I have owned.

If anybody wants the fuel tank TSB, it's posted here http://losibk2.com/forum/TSB05-4-8.pdf

My first fillup of ~ 10 gallons didn't present any problems. Today, I was near empty, and it took me about 6 minutes to get $10 in it. I called my dealer, mentioned the TSB and the first person I talked to left me a voicemail stating she found it and it was exactly what I described to her. When I called back, I got a different person and he wants to "put it on a lift and see what he can find out". I hung up and got hold of the first woman I spoke with. She's going to speak with their supervisor about ordering the part and having it there before I come in for service. I'd like to be armed with the TSB to avoid repeat trips to the service department.

Thanks guys. I also found the following on another forum. Hope they don't mind me sharing it here:

Ford has just issued a special service message for some manual trans GT Mustangs. SSM 18453 includes any GT Mustangs with manual trans built BEFORE 2/1/05. The buzz/rattle coming from bellhousing area due to missing bolts allowing the separator shield between the engine and the trans to vibrate. The fix is to install two bolts into the open holes. Hope this helps.

Ford has just recently issued 2 TSBs for the 05 GT Mustangs. The first one is TSB 04-24-20 : The issue is limited slip axle chatter during low speed manuevers while turning. Its refers to replacing the clutch pack and using different gear lube. This TSB also covers other Ford models with limited slip rear diffs.

04-24-20

This article supersedes TSB 04-17-5 to update the model year and vehicle line coverage. ISSUE:

Some 2003-2005 Expedition/Navigator, 2004-2005 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 9.75" or 8.8" limited slip rear axle, and 2002-2005 Explorer 4dr, Mountaineer, Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Town Car, and Mustang vehicles equipped with 8.8" limited slip rear axle, may exhibit a chatter, shudder, a binding sensation, or a vibration during low speed turns. On 4x4 vehicles, the sensation may appear to be originating from the front axle or the steering gear.

ACTION:

First verify the condition. On 4x4 trucks ensure that the vehicle is in 2WD, to isolate the rear axle. On all vehicles, turn the wheel fully right (or fully left) and then accelerate the vehicle. If the condition is verified to be in the rear axle, replace the limited slip clutch pack.

Sweet, I get a second dealer fill up ??? They filled it up when new, mostly to have a reason for the salesman to drive her. lol

Well, I stopped in Monday, and the dealership ordered my tank. I thought maybe they were new to this situation, but the service manager said they had done several, including V6 cars. What sort of ticks me off, is as I posted earlier, they gave me my first fill up. All 4 times I have filled it up, have been very dificult, and ended in gas splashing down the side of the car.

I am convinced the salesman had to know I had the bad tank, and sold the car to me anyway. Now I don't have my 03 truck trade to drive the day the Mustang will be in the shop. I will bring this to their attention, when they call for me to come in.

Thanks XP!

the TSB number is all I needed, the dealer got right on it and ordered a Gas Tank.
I won't get one for two weeks but I can live with it for now.

Now if they would just fix the suspension...

Glad to help. My dealer called today, they are ordering my new tank too, although she did say that they were on "National backorder" which I've read here that someone else posted. I found out that holding the nozzle at the 12 o'clock position that it filled ok, so I'm ok with a delay.

Good luck,

J

Try this link http://www.blueovalnews.com/2005/advisory/

Print the article and insist they replace the tank, if the dealer gives you any grief call Ford.

My dealer took my word for it, ordered the tank and found the TSB after my tank was installed.

Now , no check light issues or filling problems, life is good!

Its the cost of getting the latest and greatest.. but you wouldnt know.. you need to go to a used car forum. Your sad SS.. I blow you away on a post and you attack on another.. ohh boy.. When the 05 cobra comes out then you can put your SS back to stock and see how you do.

Thanks for the link. I asked my dealer about the gas tank problem and they had "no clue". I've printed off the advisory and taking it with me when I go back!
