Hello everyone, my name is Zac I have a 1999 Mustang GT. I have a Superchip, Tri-axe shifter, 2 Chamber Flowmasters, Off-Road Mac-Prochamber, and a Mac Cold Air Induction.

I wanted to ask you all a question. I want to put 3.73 gears on it. Would everyone recommend that or should I not do that. What kind of results do you all think I could get with the 0-60 and the 1/4 mile? Thanks and appriciate all your help.

Also, what kind of underdrive pullies should I get, if any? Are they worth the money?

Thanks and hope to get to know you all.

3.73's should drop a couple of 10ths off your 1/4 mile time. you already have 3.27's if I am not mistaken. 3.73's are well worth the money since the 4.6 is a cammer motor and needs the rpms. Pulley's are an excellent source for power for around $100. If you can get aluminum ones for cheap enough, do it. Try Mustang Parts Specialties. I got a set made from aircraft aluminum there before for less than $100.

l think a stock rear end for a GT is 2.73. So getting 3.73s will make a big difference.

Stanglover, I think for the 99 and newer they started making the 3.27's the standard for the V-8 cars.

Numerically higher gears will definetly improve 0-60 times. But the higher you go, the less traction you have. Traction won't be a big issue as long as you stay on or below 3.73.

I have 4.10 in my 93,and traction is an issue. But I say be daring go for the 4.10. Just practice your launch, get some stickies out back, and you will be swallowing your teeth in no time!

Yeah, I got traction problems on my 93 with 3.73's and I only have the usual bolt on stuff. K&N, pulley's, electric fan, shorties and 2 chamber Flowmaster cat-back system. lloydchristmas is right. Because of the pulley's I had to install a 140 amp alternator to keep my battery charged. I'm not sure what amp alternator the late models have, but I wouldn't do it over again. Have fun.
