Default quick question

Hi..new to this section haha, well i have a kenwood head unit in my 88 lx with JL Audio all the way around it, a buddy in my electronics class at schools getting a new system in his wrx and offered me his 2 10 inch JL subs with a 500 watt amp, i cant remember the name of the amp tho, but any woo he said 250, is it worth that? im not looking to make a monster system but have something to give it a nice sound, it sounds great with all 10 speakers now, but just needs some more base.

Find out the make/model the amp and you should be able to get a better idea.

What version are the subs? If they're W0's or something like that, then he's nuts. If they're not, you might be OK.

A little more information is needed before it can be said if it's a good or bad deal.

Note: I hate JL, so I'm the least-likely person to say it's worth $250, but I won't let my bias get in the way of my judgement here. :P

JL's always been overpriced, IMO. I used to run Image Dynamics stuff and it was heads and shoulders above JL (and still is), in my opinion. JL's not "bad" stuff, it's just overpriced. But that's my opinion.

I've never heard of that model of sub, so I'm not sure what it's worth.. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable with JL could chime in..?

Couldn't agree more. JL makes a quality product but thier marketing ability allows them to dramatically overprice their equipment. The only great JL equipment I evr got was the 12" W0 with a detached surround I found in someones trash. Some $2 silicone glue and it was a great freebie.

After you get the amp and sub info, we will be able to help you much more.

You should also go ahead and put a system in that classic. My 65 has a ghetto freebie system in it now, but you got to love cruisin in the old car with a great stereo!

I've never been impressed with the w0's and wouldn't pay squat for them, so I think it's kind of a ripoff unless the amps are at least 'decent'. If they're some cheapo Lanzar Vibe "500W" amps, then I'd definitely pass. If you can get some model information on the amps, it'd really help..

I wouldn't pay $50 for two 10W0's in a prefab sealed box...

Pictures would help if you can't get model numbers.

I agree wholeheartedly. Unless the amps have some really redeeming qualities, I think your friend is retarded to ask $250 for the setup.
