I just bought a set of OEM Cobra rims for my '94 GT on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=290181802217&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=019) and I'm just curious on how big of tires I can fit on those?

My apologies if this has been addressed a million times. I came up with nada when I searched.

Thanks,
-Jordan

Ok the ebay page didn't show up what size rims are they? If they are 17X9 I have been running BGF 275/40/17 I know you can go to like a 295 size but I bought a set of 17X10.5 for the back put the 275's on the 10.5's but after I wear these out I'm going 315/35/17 next.

Try that one out.

They're OEM 17" Cobra rims.

Looks like the "stock size" is 245/45..Should I get something else, or just go with the standard size?

I had considered getting wider tires for the rear, but I don't really want to deal with the hassle of not being able to rotate from front-to-rear.

I'm not looking to spend a fortune here, but I don't want total crap, either. Keep in mind, my Mustang is essentially bone-stock and isn't (and likely won't ever be) exactly a 'drag vehicle'. It's a glorified daily-driver/recreational vehicle that needs a paint job. :\

Anyone?

I'm not really even sure on which tires I should consider if I decide to just go for the 245/45-17's..Here's the list TireRack.com gives me:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compare1.jsp?sortValue=0&resultsNumberSelected=Y&displayResults=72&compare=true&compareList=&RunFlat=All&goWhere=%252Ftires%252FCompare1.jsp&width=245%2F&ratio=45&diameter=17&speed_rating=U&speed_rating=H&speed_rating=V&speed_rating=Z&speed_rating=W&speed_rating=Y&speed_rating=%28Y%29&performance=EP&performance=MP&performance=UHP&performance=HP&performance=UHPAS&performance=HPAS&performance=PAS&startIndex=0

Any help whatsoever is really appreciated.

Thanks,
-Jordan

i've got 245/45s front and back on 17 x 9s. i've got the nitto 555s. they're very good on dry pavement. pretty good in the rain. and terrible in the snow. they're pretty cheap too. i think they were a little over $100 a piece.

they only thing that sucks about them is they're directional, so you can only rotate them front to back not side to side.

Heh.

Thanks for the info. Doesn't driving a Mustang in the snow pretty much suck no matter what? :P

IMO, that's why I bought my '01 Expedition, even though it's 2WD..

yeah i suppose you're right!

that's why i don't. i just tried to move it in my driveway, and it took me like 20 min.

i got a 97 dakota. 4wd ftw!!

even though your expedition is only 2wd, i'm sure it's alot better than the stang. in fact, i know it is.

Yeah, it's definitely better than the Mustang.. The snow doesn't really get bad enough here to "require" 4WD, although it's always helpful in the snow.

I don't even bother trying to drive the Mustang in the snow. No way it's worth the effort (heh), especially since it's a convertible. It's, uh, a tad bit chilly inside. :P

The Mustang has been sitting in my garage for a few months now.. Gawd, I need some money to paint it. :(

Yeah, the heater works fine, but the remote start on the Expedition is better. ;)

The painting issue is a nightmare. I've been told that it's likely going to run me $4,000+ and it just doesn't seem worth it when my car's barely even going to be worth that (after paint). :( I've got barbed-wire scratches down the passenger side of my car, so I have to do something, but gawd, $4,000? :(

oooooh remote start. i'm jealous. i wish my truck had that.

$4000? ouch! sounds like yours is worse than mine. mine just has the clear coat flaking off.

i'm probably going to paint mine myself. duplicolor has a kit for like $60 (primer, paint, & clear)

http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?N=401129+323375+115&autoview=sku

i know it's not going to turn out perfect. but i figure i can't make it look any worse, right?

Hey, worth a shot before you pony up the dough for a real paint job.

There might be some way to touch mine up, but I'm doubtful. I think the only way to make it look very good at all (at this point) is to give in and repaint it. :(

The pictures aren't very good and they're pretty old, but you get the idea. It's ugly. :(

Anyone else with any tire suggestions? I have to admit, I'm pretty much lost while looking at my 245/45R17 list on tirerack.. :\
