I put it down for the drive home from the show. Got home, pulled the switch, nothing. I get a "click" pushing or pulling the switch. I have the seat out, what now?
Thanks

it might be your switch....mine is starting to have problems too. sometimes i can cut the car off and turn it back on and the top will work...check that out.

Thanks but the switch is fine. The clicking is coming from the relays right next to the pump.
I have the motor out of the pump assembly. LOTS of black dust (dried out seal?). Shot the windings and shaft w/brake cleaner, then immediately with bike chain spray lube. One of the brushes is about 1/3 the thickness of the other, about 1/32" thick. I also put the voltmeter in the connector to the motor - big # one way, big negative # the other.
How much should a rebuild of ths motor cost? Can I do it myself? Or am I better off buying a new one?

Hey man, I got an '88 like 3 months ago and my driver's license 2 months ago, right? My first day driving it, I had the same problem. Did you ever fix it?
Also, my dad's mechanic said something about a manual switch to put the top down. Any idea?
Email or call Jim. He rebuilds these, beat the hell out of any other prices I could find. The one he sent me works fine. Give him a little while to get back to you, he works for a living too.
