There is a write up on the "other" forum about it, most I've heard did it in about 2 hours but it adds weight.

In retrospect I wish I had just gone ahead and done the 8.8 swap - it would have cost just a hair more, after the original install and then having another shop work on them again to try to reduce the whine.And I wouldn't have the whine that the Richmonds have if I had just gone with the 8.8. It's something you need to ask your mechanic - 1. what will it cost for the tlok and gears installed (and don't get the Richmond for your daily driver, get Ford Racing) and 2. what will they charge to remove the 7.5 and install the 8.8plus what can you get the 8.8 for shipped.

the chances of finding an 8.8 for under $700 is very slim

built 7.5
Detroittruetrac=$420
install kit=$70
install of the detroit=$200

grand total of $680 and you have a rear that's stronger than a stock 8.8

you can also add a TA girdle for $140
panhard relocation kit=$???
Allloy USA hardened 28 spline axles=$210 for both

alittle over a grand and you have a 7.5 that will handle anything the 4.0 can throw at it.
