Default 7.5 vs 8.8 rear end

I was wondering at what power levels is an 8.8 rear end necessary? I was thinking of getting away with the stock and putting T-lok on it since there is a slight weight savings. I haven't gone F/I yet though intend to do so soon. Just checking my options, Thanks

The 8.8 is bigger heavier and will takemore power!
The 7.5 will take power up to about 350 HP but doesn't offer as many gear options and can break at any point with added power.
I have know many who ran the 7.5 for long periods after going F/I

also if you do get up there in hp and are into racing at the track and you start launching hard you will risk breaking parts. but most likely youll be ok

+1. if ur just going to keep it as ur DD stay with the 7.5, it can take roll-on compitition, and honestly thts wat we mostly all do every once in a while. but u can actually upgrade the axle shafts on the 7.5 too.

i broke an axle in my 7.5 with only 211rwhp

my stock 8.8 has taken some serious abuse so far.
