Dude, c'mon, can't we all just get along. I thought it was quite witty myself, hence he was racing a Z28. I can't even make fun of my own kind?

Guy down the street has a 91 Formula that I thought had the LT1 in it, I know it has a 350.

3rd gens never came with LT1's.

The V8 blessed 3rd gens came with (starting at 85-92)LO3, LB9 & L98.

305 TPI Auto's were 190hp, 5 speeds were 220hp.

350 TPI Auto's (no manuals) 230hp and in late 89 they were 240hp.

Turbo Trans Am is the fastest 3rd gen besides the Firehawk running 13.1 & 13.3 respectively.

305's were the only motor's available until 88, when they introduced the first of the 350's, unfortunetly the vast majority of the 350's came with 2.73 gears as those were the standard rear end gears, making a 305 5 speed just as fast in the quarter mile as they came with 3.27's stock. The T5 transmission couldn't handle the torque of a TPI 350, near 330 ft/lbs of torque..

learn something new everyday. I'm guessing thats why they made the T-56 tranny for the 330lb torque? Mine is rated at that.

The new T-56 can handle alot of power now.

The old T5's in 3rd gens are glass transmissions, and minor bolt ons were enough to break them with ease. 700R4's are about .5-1 second slower in the quarter than a T5, but with 4th gens the new automatic is near .2 slower than a 6 speed. Huge improvement and GM offers one of the best automatics offered from the factory.

That's just a stroked 350 right? Or is it a seperate engine all together?

5 speeds come with 3.27 and auto's are 2.73 or 3.08, I'm not sure.

Black Horse's engine is a 350 block that's bored.

Niiiiice, I want to stroke mine to a 383 but the cheaper method is just to shoot it with a 100 shot and hope it doesn't blow. Guy at the strip with nearly stock TA with active ram air hood, M6, and a 200 shot ran 7.04 in the 1/8th last Thursday night. Test and tune night

LT1's respond great to a 383 rebuild.

Spray until she blows up, just put away enough money so if it happens soon, she won't be parked for a long time.
