Thinking about removing "powered by ford" badges, or replace them with

07SGT -> Thinking about removing "powered by ford" badges, or replace them with (11/16/2007 9:03:55 PM)

I had the thought of removing them and leave it blank or put on cobras in its place. If I put the cobras on, I would also remove the grill badge. The 65 GT 350 had no cobras, but the 67 did. What do you guys think? [&:]

dont put cobras on IMO unless you have a gt500.

Torch_Vert -> RE: Thinking about removing "powered by ford" badges, or replace them with (11/17/2007 9:25:21 AM)

I don't see an issue with cobra logos on any Shelby model (geez, it's been a Shelby standard logo for 40+ years lighten up a little)

I do agree on a non-Shelby it's pretty questionable

Mike: If you do decide to go that way, I can offer you a trade for the takeoffs. I'll PM you.

let me know what you do. I also have a shelby gt black, and would love to have an extra set of powered by ford badges, they are so hard to come by and would be nice to have a spare set.

Have you seen what those emblems are selling for on ebay?
They are worth thier weight in gold.

robfg67 -> RE: Thinking about removing "powered by ford" badges, or replace them with (1/5/2008 3:59:45 PM)

Perhaps this is a stupid question, but can't the "powered by ford" badges be ordered from the parts department?

Revans310 -> RE: Thinking about removing "powered by ford" badges, or replace them with (1/5/2008 4:48:28 PM)

I was going to put the Snake on top of the ford emblem but it puts the Cobra to high and the emblem has two little post that I could shave off.

Nope. I already tried that lol.

SaddleUp -> RE: Thinking about removing "powered by ford" badges, or replace them with (1/9/2008 2:57:36 AM)

I wouldn't do it.  I like the "powered by Ford" emblems.

07 Shelby GT -> RE: Thinking about removing "powered by ford" badges, or replace them with (1/11/2008 6:19:09 PM)

I think you should stay with the "Powered by Ford" also.  I think they are the least offensive logos on a mustang.  I have owned 2 previously to my SGT and I was glad when I saw what they looked like.

zporta -> RE: Thinking about removing "powered by ford" badges, or replace them with (1/11/2008 7:28:08 PM)

I would leave it stock...keeps the value and keeps it original...but the cobra emblem is pretty sick, i look at it everyday

MELLOWYELLOW06 -> RE: Thinking about removing "powered by ford" badges, or replace them with (2/13/2008 9:47:23 AM)

Im putting the Cobra badge on the grill next week after the car comes back from the shop (S/C install).  I waited almost a year after the front end conversion to put it on as I did not want to get caught w/ my pants down.  Now Ill have the power to back up the looks and the Cobra badge.  Hell, with all the money I have put into her I could have bought a GT500.

TheKurgan -> RE: Thinking about removing "powered by ford" badges, or replace them with (2/22/2008 5:26:08 PM)

Definitely I would not put a Cobra badge on my SGT.  I do consider it a Cobra, especially more than the 94-04 "Cobra's", but this is what makes the car unique.  Think about it.

Cobra badges can be bought at SAI all day.  Also I don't want someone walking by with a screwdriver and prying it off.

I think the " powered by ford " emblems are cool. Plus they are what belong on your car and you should be proud of it. Shelby GT's are very nice cars. [8D]
IMO, putting cobra emblems, on a Shelby GT, is like pretending it's a GT500. It would dishonor your car. [sm=imsorry.gif]

In one word......STUPID.  The original GT-350's which this car is commemorating had the "Powerd by Ford" badges just as they are on the 07 Shelby GT's.  If you didn't want the Shelby GT looks then why did you buy one?

Orion_240 -> RE: Thinking about removing "powered by ford" badges, or replace them with (5/4/2008 12:41:19 AM)

well, considering the fact that the new GT500 isn't officially called a Cobra, putting snakes on it is just a waste of time & money. Only do it if you are building a clone or tribute GT500. Otherwise it's Fantasy Island time!

FTR, I love the official Powered by Ford badges. I believe they were only distributed by Shelby Automotive through an arrangement with Ford.

Shelby2809 -> RE: Thinking about removing "powered by ford" badges, or replace them with (5/4/2008 8:05:11 AM)

I like our badges, if it were me I wouldn't change them. But, this is your car, do what makes you happy.
