Ok, been reading alot and looking around and I've found an 07 Shelby GT for $36K or I can get an 08 GT/CS (I like the package, what can I say) for $30K - these aren't out the door prices, still need tax etc
I'm just not sure what to do.

well I can be of some help here. About two months ago I walked away from a an 07 california special. I got it down to 26k 3.9% for 60 months. They had a shelby gt and wanted like 42, was way out of my price range. I would have gotten the c/s i just wasnt two crazy about to the tan and charcoal interior. So i passed. a bout 3 weeks later, im car hunting again. I was able to find a shelby gt and get it for 37,more reasonable. I am now soooo glad i passed on the c/s and got what i really wanted. I planned to get a c/s and mod it to look like the sgt. But now I got the real thing and couldnt be happier. All the money I would have spend on parts and labor would have put me up another 4000 or so. So the SGT in well worth it in my opinion
I hear you, I am looking at 08 GT or 08 GT500 , out the door GT500 51850.00, out the door 08 GT 28,### out the door 08 Rouah 428R 46,480, The GT is fun drives nice and has a great feel,
I am wrestling with simular issues as you , I have had several mustangs, still have 92 5.0 LX, when all said and done I am having hard time seeing the value in the GT500, Roush and am leaning toward the GT and moding it myself,,, Good luchk to you
I bought my '07 GT/CS in July for 27K, 3K under msrp. I spent that 3K on mods and have come up with a nice ride. By the time I spend 10K it will be supercharged and rolling on 20s. The dealer had a SGT parked next to it when I was looking but they wanted 10K over list for it. (I wasn't playing that game!) I might have bit at 36 though. My interior is 2-tone dark and light grey, I didn't care for the tan either.

I decided not to go the GT/CS route, I love the CS package with the 2 tone interior but it's not going ot hold it's value like the Shelby GT or the Saleen. The Saleen is more than I wanted to pay ($44K) vs the $36K for the Shelby GT and that's enough of a difference to get a supercharger on the Shelby GT... I'm leaning toward the Shelby GT but I just don't know, I'm gonna have to convince the dealers to let me drive both and see what the difference is.

Shelby GT + Kenne Bell Supercharger FTW!
A Shelby will hold it's value more than a Saleen IMO.
