Default LS1 WS6 vs S197??

i must be a noob, i figured our stangs would walk those trans ams... car is stock except for o/r h and LM's, performance wise... hardly ever race, raced a lightning one time and an LS1 GTO, beat them both... see i figured sincei already beat a Lightningand a new LS1 i figured i could beat an older LS1...not the case, it's one of my friends actually, we raced in the school parking lotafter working out, totally empty and it's a farily large school, so a FAIRLY large parking lot lol. I rev to about 2K and let her out, shift in to second carefully,, but quicky, so i don't go sliding (Rammed it in second gear against the lightning and almost died, almost totally sideways lol ) and we cut off when i was 4/5 through third.. we were dead even the whole time. i thought i had an easy win no doubt... what's anybody elses experiences with these LS1's??

that's pretty good on your part b/c those ls1 come w/ more power than we do and i'll just come out and say it, they're extremely wicked. now imagine if you had your stang tuned what you could have done to a car that comes with a much bigger engine than you. i have a buddy with an ls1 SS but he has it tuned, a lid, 3.73's, SLP long tubes and borla exhaust and we were pretty even on the interstate from an 80 mph kick. i was running my bama performance tune then and i'm running the race tune now, i'd like to see which one does better against him

hey, nice stang sunshine. That's what i'm sayin too... these S197's can be modded almost as well as those LS1's, with the exception of those cammed pushrod LS's1 . Yea no doubt if i had a CAI and tune i would have won... what i don't understand is why ford keeps putting these 4.6's in herewhile GM's shoving 6.0's and 5.7's... i would be more than happy with an all aluminum 5.4 making 350 in these S197's... now if they made it a pushrod, that would be ecstasy...others like the modular design, but i frankly don't care, just as long as it shreds pavement lol, your friends SS sounds like it's bitchin.

I raced a 2002 WS6 a couple months ago... no idea what mods he had besides that he had some gauges and really loud exhaust. As soon as the light turned green we both punched it and by 70 i had 2-3 lengths on him although i had a feeling if the race had gone to 120 or more he would have caught me. My mods are 4.10 gears, jlt and brents 93 tune... im thinking with a good tune and driver our cars can deifinitley get those ls1 down low

I did a 20 to 100 roll with a WS6 4-5 months ago. I was off the bottle on my N2O tune. At the time I had a JLT2, SCT tuner with 2 degrees of timing taken out for the N2O (i hadn't changed it), JBA shorties and 4.10's. I gained about 2.5 to 3 car lengths from 20-100. We did another from 80 and I pulled again. Soon as I started pulling hegot out of it and I did too. His disadvantage is he had a passenger and I didn't.

I would put it closer to a drivers race with the WS6 a slight advantage.

Remember a WS6=Z28=SS. All the same.

thanks guys... after my first race against the lightning i kinda figured out how to drive these things, plus more practice of course...when i raced the lightning it was the very first time for me to totally get on it,i revved to like 3.5k and let out the clutch hahahaha, big mistake, rammed it hard into second, hahaha another big mistake, almost killed myself, but somehowwon by about a length, we cut off as i shifted into fourth... i was alllllover the place ....yea i admit it is dangerous and that's why i dont race that much but the parking lot was empty, and americanmuscle, i see you're running low 13's with just a tune and CAI... is that with good driving or is thatcommon with cai+tune? and downriver, what are your mods? those are good times as well
