Default Thud/Clunk Noise

Hey guys the problem just came about around a week ago I want to say. When the car is at a dead stop and I go into reverse, as I let out the clutch there's like a thud/clunk coming from the rear of the car. It sometimes does it too when I downshift. When I'm on the float or just cruising normally it doesn't do it. Any ideas? Like I said it's coming from the rear of the car...

Really? I've had a few guys in the other forums saying U-Joints or the differential needs to be re-shimmed. Did this happen to you?Let me know because that would be a lot easier to fix than re-shimming the differential...

Hey I think I'm going through the same BS. I too was told it might be the u-joins of having the differential re-shimmed. Now I'm hearing the differential bushings? I guess I'll find out when I go to take it to Modular Powerhouse. I'll also keep you all updated. Thanks.

Please do. I'm taking mine to shop class tomarrow and checking theU-Joints and making sure thedifferentialbushings are in good shape and that the mounting bolts are tight. Alsoanother guy on anotherforum saidto check the pinion bearing bolt to makesure that'stight. It could be a number of things, most of which are easy to fix yourself... Unless you need to get the differential re-shimmed...

The verdict was the driveshaft bolts being loose. I tightened those bitches up and the noise was gone. Also everything else was tight BTW. Good luck w/ yours ShaneHayes...
