I have a 1970 fastback with a 351W.  The engine came with a Holley Street Dominator intake manifold and a worn out Holley double pumper.  Too much corosion in the carb to rebuild, missing parts etc.  I have a new 600 CFM Edelbrck carburetor that I picked up at a swap meet.  I plan to degree the cam to see what I have and at some time pop the heads to check deck height, piston type, etc.  What I don't know is anything about the intake.  I'm looking to use as  much as I can for now just freshenng up gaskets and such until I can build up another 351W to swap into the car.  Just looking at it the intake, it looks like a high RPM type of intake.  How "streetable" is this intake going to be?  My plan is for a weekend driver that has some good snap, but drivable enough to handle city type traffic.  I had been thinking of getting a Wieand Stealth intake, but if the Street Dominator will do I can save a few bucks until I do the other engine buid.  Any have experience with the Street Dominator

It's one of the older dual plane intakes. It's a street manifold, dual plane moderate rpm range, similar to an Edelbrock Performer. For what you want it's just fine, very streetable. I think JamesW has one on his pony. The Weiand Stealth is similar to the Edelbrock RPM, a higher rpm street manifold

Good memory... you saw that photo a week or so ago.

Yeah, I had a Holley Street Dominator on my 302 with a Holley 1850.  I thought it was a nice mid range street intake.   I'd take it, have it stripped and powdercoated clear or aluminum color, and slap it back on there!

Thanks guys.  Sounds like it will fill the bill.  Now to degree the cam and see what I've got.

I dont know that 600 cfm is enough for a 351.
I had a 625 Carter Edelbrock and Carter both made by webber anyway same carb.) on my 289 seemed to be about right with the gt 40 heads and cam.
I think in the search you can find a formula to figure what cfm you need. My guess a 351 should do 750 with out to much trouble.

At 6000 RPM, 100% VE is about 600 cfm.  No normally aspirated engine operates at 100 %.  Also, with an unknown bottom end I won't be running it like that anyway.  I'm sure 600 cfm will do just fine for a street engine.

Yeah, 600cfm is fine on a mild 351W, a well build street 351 I wouldn't go any larger than 700cfm. Read the overcarburetion thread I started a few minutes ago, I was suprised by what I found

The sad thing is I remember stuff like that, but don't know the names of half the people in my church and I've been going there for 2 years. And it's a small church. I must have a single plane mind....I mean one track
