i have a 2006 mustang 4.0 people tell me there is a difference in the rearends.04 and earlier are different than 05 or newer.i have a 8.8 rearend,want to put a posie in it .can anyone help. thank you

I dont know about the 05+ but the "99-04" v6s carry the 7.5" and the GTs 8.8", and of course the cobras carry the 9".

cobras are 8.8 as well, but they are IRS

6ers are 7.5s, v8s are 8.8

8.8s come with the ford trash-lok

All the above are correct. Not sure if s197 V6s had a factory option of a locker but if u dont have one Id suggest you get it. Its a lot of fun hookin on both wheels

If you have an 8.8 (out of a GT i'm assuming) It already has posi trac-

if the rear in your car is factory it's a 7.5 not an 8.8.

i reccomend against getting a Ford T-lok. they just don't hold up. Detroit truetrac all the way.

$420 but it's worth every penny. it will never wear out and never break like the ford t-lok will
