Okay, I'm going to be getting my exhaust done on my II soon and I want to do dual exhaust. I was wondering if anyone has ever had dual exhaust ran all the way back and dumped behind the axle. I had wanted to do this but I was under my car tonight taking the transmission out and it doesn't look like there is enough room. There is plenty of room on the Pass. side, but driver side pipe would almost have to go over the pumpkin of the rear end. At that point I might as well have them run it all the way out the passenger side rear. Any ideas would be appreciated.

as much as i didnt want to, i ended up running both pipes out next to each other on the passenger side. two flowmaster 40's fit under the car ok, but routing the pipe out from the muffler back to the rear of the car on the drivers side put it way too close to the gas tank for my likings if i remember correctly.

yeah, i just want to dump behind the axle on both sides but i don't think i can even do that, there just isn't room it looks like, I mean, if i'm going to go over the axle it might as well go all the way to the back because there's not enough room on the drivers side for the pipe to dump. I guess i'll either have to do exhaust all the way out the back or dump before the axle(which i don't really want to do with 10 series flows). who knows, I guess i'll have to talk it over with the exhaust guy. Thanks

My dad had a '77 II Ghia when I was a kid (way back in the 80's) and he had duals that were dumped behind the axle. I don't know if the undercarriage on the Ghia's were set up different from the Cobra's or not, and it was a really long time ago, so unfortunately I'm not going to be of much help other then letting you know that it MAY be possible. Man I miss that car. Only got to drive it once.

LOL, and yeah the ghia and the cobras are the same under there, although i think there IS a different gas tank for the hatchbacks and the notches so i dont know if that comes into play. my car is on the ramps, and i'll take pictures tomorrow when its light out.

Come on I can't believe you didn't ask me how your exhaust should be done haha j/k.  I got pics but not on this comp. But I have straight pipes and they are dumped before the axle. It sounds good, REALLY good.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=S0ygfgGnyw8 I would suggest Flowmast 10 series. they are lighter than a lap top. they probably weigh 7 pounds. So they aren't as heavy as a 40, they only have 1 little baffle compared to the 40's many. Just a better muffler.

For my car the only thing we did to make the hookers fit, was take out the battery and put it in the trunk. We went to interstate battery got a battery box, put the battery and teh box in the trunk screwed and strapped the cover down and get a good ground your good to go. But here i'll find some.

yeah, i hate the heddmens too, but what can i do, i'm cheap. so how loud are those 10 series dumped in front of the axle? i can't imagine, my 40 delta flows are pretty healthy sounding dumped behind my front seats, those gotta be loud. i want loud but not really really loud, that's why i kinda want to dump behind the axle or out the back of the car. My friend told me the other day that he can get me one of those little x-junctions from Mr.Gasket for like 20-30 dollars. I told him to get me the dimensions and i just might get one. I'd like to try an x-pipe but I don't want to really pay for the muffler shop to make one ---> $$$$

you can hear my 40's dumped out the back here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-9o3t0EP3I

Stang II, did you HAVE to relocate your battery? It looks like there should be plenty of room. I love how  your #1 primary tube goes the right friggen way

Thank you guys.

We had to take it out to make it fit in the first place, but we could probably put it back in, but we just moved it to the back to make more room under the hood. As we all know, the II's aaren't really the best in room under the hood.

These 10 series are hellaciously loud, even louder when you get on the gas. It sounds like a real 4 second dragster. If you leave your windows down and go normal speed past cars that are at a light, you might go deaf in all honesty cuz it is just soo loud.
