got my first mustang today. its nothing fancy, in fact its kinda rough right now. but its something i have been wanting for a long time. the previous owner has done some engine work to it, but it doesnt exaclty run like it should. its fast and has power, its just a rough ride. i couldnt pass it up because it was a great price. im a dummy when it comes to ford products so bear with me if i happen to ask something stupid. ive learned alot by reading some posts here and decided to join-up.
here is a pic of it now. i dont exactly know what all im going to do to it just yet. im going to be doing some every couple of weeks.
hey welcome. nice ride there. cobra R's would look sweet on that. dont be afraid to ask for help on anything. we got some very knowlegable people here that would be happy to help you out.

thanks for the welcome. and yes im a former marine. spent a few years active duty. anyway, ive attached a pic of the front of my car. i was hoping i could get a good picture so i could "show off" the lighter blue part. its like a marbled effect. but between the frost, the sun, and my bad picture taking abilities it didnt show up very well. it has the marbled effect on the hood, inside of rear wing, and tailight covers. eventually ill have to have some minro body work done and im hoping that ill be able to keep the light blue part.
some of the things i know im going to do is replace the weather stripping, get new headlights and tailights, replace hood pins, and retint the windows. i know thats not anything performance wise, but before i deal with the engine, rear end, suspension, ect.. i have got to figure out what all the guy has done and try to get it right.
my wife thinks im crazy for being so excited over a 16 year old car, but its a car ive wanted for a long time.
If your wife thinks you are crazy for a 16 year old car she would really wonder about a lot of us with the first generation cars.
Figuring out what the last guy did is half of the fun of getting a used car. Also it will help you learn your car...as you take it apart you learn what holds it together and such. As you break stuff while trying to take it apart [:@] you learn what not to do. Keep us posted on your progress. Nice car BTW.
I have an 88, It was a pretty rough ride when I got it to. I have owned 3 of them and on all of them my coil springs were broken. Suspension is pretty easy to work on with these cars. I have replaced about every part os suspension on these cars and it isn't bad. If you need any help or have any questions, I have only owned mustangs since I was 16. I had a 91lx 5.0, a 98 GT, a 86gt, and I have an 88lx 5.0 as of now. I do all the work to them myself. happy to help, if I can.
