I'm still a way off, but was wondering what the concensus is on removing the black EDP primer that sheet metal parts come with these days. I know that it needs to be removed where welding, but should the EDP be removed elsewhere prior to the finish painting/body prep. I have read that some people say leave it on because it is stuck on good, kind of like leaving on a previous paint job if it is solid, just rough it up some when applying other primer coats. I've also read that it should be taken down to bare metal, but the arguments that I've read in this regard don't give a real reason other than just because that's the way to do it. What do you guys think. Please give reasons why you think the way you do and not just "because". If removing is the correct way then there has to be a reason why it is the correct way. Thanks, John B.

My paint class teacher told us to leave it on. You need to scuff it up a little with a scotch brite pad, but other than that, you can prime right over it.

This primer is super smooth, it will not hold paint without a really good scuff job. Don't forget the creases and the nooks and crannys..... ( I don't think I have ever typed "nooks and crannys" before.... wierd words... )

Thanks Starfury and JMD. Your responses make sense and is what I'm leaning heavily toward unless someone else has a real good reason otherwise. Thanks again
