Really, it all depends on where you are. I'm in SoCal and would advertise at 12K. I probably wouldn't take less than 11.5 either. Car markets are so different from location to location. I have no clue what the demand for a low mile '98 Cobra is in IL, but I would imagine that regardless where you are, it's a desirable car. Hell... I know it is. I have one.
I think you'd be safe advertising at 12,000 and accept a 500 buck negotiation. If you sit with it for too long, you have two options. Lower your asking price, or wait until Summer when everyone wants one again. Either way, don't sell yourself short on such a nice car right off the bat.
ya i actually bought it from a guy in cali last march,

I have a 97gt 76kmi frame with '96 53kmi cobra motor. Not one mechanical part on the car is stock.Every bushing, bearing and fluids are all new. Complete suspension overhaul, upgraded brakes, LT headers, complete exhaust, killer 3,000watt Infinity audio system w/custom installation, way too many upgrades to even think about. With that said I wouldn't take a penny less than $11k for my ride and it's not a factory SVT, if it was prob closer to 14k

i would say good luck... but those prices are not realistic, I would bet somewhere in the 5-8 range
Uhh... no, not really. $11,500 is the NADA value. 10k would be a really good deal, 9k would be a steal. You can get 5-8k out of a 98 GT.
haha funnah, you wont make it if you go into the car sales business... but what do I know, all I have is a dealer's liscense at my disposal
FYI dealers dont pay 1/2 of what these cars are selling for... if its over 5yrs old....
I guess that makes two things different between the two of us. You're right, I wont ever be a car salesman, and two, I wont get ripped off when I sell my car either. Next time you want to sell one of your cars that cheap you let me know and I'll pick it up and resell it for another $5k.
FYI, he's not a dealer nor is he selling to one if he wants to make any money off the car.

while i can sympathize of course, the more mods you have the more you narrow your buyer.. your car maybe worth 25k...but you wont get it unless somebody wants it, you know what I mean? but generally and this is esp true with cobras of almost all years mods = decrease in value to 98% of your buyers, so anyway just enjoy the car for yourself and dont worry about it
was he not selling to re-buy? or I am mistaken?... but read the post above... there is a difference between what I would do, what I think my car is worth and what it is really worth... i can flat ass tell that, that year cobra is not going to sell for anywhere near 11k... but hey i just like to get good deals and share my insight bc 99% of car buyers get ripped off (you know who you are )
but again you have to be wiling to wait a long time also... so with our friend here, he should "find the right buyer" to command his price, but his mods are not quite to the level to where most people jump at it right away, and alot of folks cant afford or dont want to carry the car for as long as it takes to sell for what you want

Well I don't know where you live, because as said before, it depends on where you are, but to use where I am as an example, if he finds the right buyer, he might get 12k, 11k is reasonable, and 10k would go quick. Maybe Cobras aren't worth anything where you are, but that's certainly not the case here. That's of course private party values. Anyone who would sell their car to a dealer is a moron. Of course you'll get half price that way.
yeah, i was refering to what dealers pay at auction, but again of course trade is a horrible way to go 90% of the time, maybe your market is insane locally... i dunno, but hey original poster good luck with it
