I'm looking at an 84 SVO, but the car dies when the boost kicks in. I'm not really familiar with turbos, and the owner says the turbo was rebuilt about 40K ago, Car has about 110K. Any ideas on what to look at?

The body and interior are in great shape, except that the from seats have been changed out to another mustang style. What do you think is a good price?

Your more likely than not blowing spark out, pull plugs, put new ones in at a smaller gap. Also to make sure nothing else is wrong, pull codes[8D]

Losing boost, {split intercoolerhose, large leak,] need new cap wires etc. How old is fuel filter? Weak fuel pump {install gauge to test]. Hose on input of turbo sucking together. Make sure wires in it and stiff.

i'd guess boost leak just from my experiences

I'm always a big fan of the old hose infront of turbo collapsing. Make sure the spring is in there and it's not to easy to squish.

well i just experienced the same thing today. i was driving and gave it some gas hit some boost and wen i shifted to third and gave it gas i noticed the car was off. i dont know what happened if other times i boost all the way and nothing has happened but its just sometimes that my car turns off wen i boost. any ideas?

no i havent, ive had it the same for quite some time now. no new mods or anything, i think its pretty strange.

Fuel pressure.

i dont remember the last tune up but ill make sure to check the plugs then. and how do i check my fuel pressure?

Buy a fuel pressure gauge;)
