Here are some of the "work in progress photos. You can see in these that I have replaced the floors, quarter panels, rockers, and everything forward of the firewall. This was a really rusty midwestern US mustang. You can also see my $200 rotisserie that I built. It works great and it is easy to spin the stang on this setup. It doesn't have fancy hydraulic rams to raise and lower the car, but I won't need it up on the rotisserie long enough to justify adding them. Enjoy
Yep, Picked up some seam sealer just yesterday. The shop is real nice, although it always seems to be a mess even though I seem to be cleaning it up all the time. Takes an hour to clean up and 30 seconds of working on something to destroy the place. I will actually be losing the shop next year, because we are going to sell the house we are in and build again. That will unfortunately put the Mustang on hold for a while once the house construction starts. I'm busting my butt trying to get the basic unibody buttoned up and sealed up before I have to store it. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention in my original post that this is a basic V8 fastback (not Mach I, Boss, etc.), 351W, Automatic trans, 9"rear, and I am planning on a slight restomod with mild lowering from stock, 17" wheels, power windows, air conditioning...
Nice plan, good work so far! An I hear you on keeping the shop clean. Mine is in a shop on my dads property (I live in suburbs and can't have one here) and I can't get him to put things away when he is finished with them, forever cearing workbenches and looking for tools etc., but hey it's his place and I'm just lucky to use it I guess.
Hey, mine had a feature when I got it yours could have used at first - a "penzoil" lower quarter patch - A plastic oil jug in the corner of the trunk to cover the hole in the quarter!
Penzoil patch?? The lower right quarter panel on mine had duct tape applied on the inside and then body filler put on the outside. I guess he ran out of aluminum sheet and pop-rivets. At fist glance that side didn't look too bad . Other "features" it had were reproduction floor pans, but did he weld them in? Of course not. Pop-rivets everywhere. Even the front seat bases were held in by some 3/16" diameter steel pop rivets. No kind of rust protection on them either. A real hack job. I'm trying to do it decent enough to be a good solid sunny day driver. The wife grimaces every time the UPS truck shows up, or when I tell her I'm taking my pickup truck to work (She knows that means big parts being delivered to work.). Really though she has been great and I'm lucky she puts up with all my crap.
