<P class=Msonormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=3>You add the $350 for labor, and almost $200 for gears around $120 for rebuild kit. Now my car has 135K miles on it so I wonder about the limited slip clutches. This all seems to get real expensive. I was just thumbing through the FRPP catalogue and seen an new complete 8.8 rear (less axles and brakes) for around $800. (May get it cheaper through distributor). What do you think, is this the way to go?<IMG src=smileys/smiley5.gif border="0"></FONT></P>

He is in a more expensive neighborhood...

But $350 is STEEP.

My buddy just got new gears, bearings, and seals for his truck and it was ~$525 or so including 8.2% sales tax, complete rebuild kit, 3.55 ring and pinion, and labor.

He should knock about $100 off that labor quote. Your gears should be closer to $150 or so, and the rebuild kit you should be able to get for under $100.

You have to be kidding me. About every place in Louisville charges $100 to install gears. Anything more than that and they're trying to anal rape you.Unlessyou're one of thosewho actually takes it back to the dealership. Thenyou deserve the raping. I guess it just depends on where you live. </P><edited><editID>br93lx</editID><editDate>37923.6153935185</editDate></edited>
