Which rack? Heidt's, Griggs, ?? I am still looking them over.

I meant the rack you've got the car sitting on to do the work :D

Hey Ken, I wondered if that was what you meant. -Glad you like it - You would have a hard time copying that one! It's and old playground "Jungle Gym" that we had laying around, we cut and pieced some parts together to set the car higher than the frame jig will be so we could slide the jig under, then pull the jungle gym and set the car down.

It rather looks dangerous right now in the pics, with all those blocks under the rear wheels but the car will set on the gym framework, the engine hoist and the blocks are there just to keep the weight of the suspension off the frame until the jig is complete. - I'll post pics when I get the jig done you will prob. like it too,  mostly just of stuff we had on hand, but is coming out pretty nice!

Nice, VERY Nice!  It's amazing how much room dropping the shock towers can give you.

Man, the holiday season flashes past. Haven't had much time to spend on the car lately.
I did get my new Dynacorn door shells and the LH quarter skin over the week end, and got some lights put up over the car.

Here are some pics of the frame jig so far. It was made of stuff we had around the place. an old city bus size car wash that had been junked provided the pipe for the legs, F-150 truck coil spring plates with nuts welded to the outer holes made the feet, and two pieces of 10" channel iron we had were long enough for the main rails. Now all I need is to buy some 2"X3" box steel for the cross members and maybe add some 45 angle supports for the legs (But they are surprisingly stable and really pretty level as they are).

To borrow a line from Cars, "Man, your so rusty, you don't even have a shadow!"

That car oughta keep you busy and out of trouble for a while. There a blast. Stick with it.

Are you going to do the body & frame work yourself or are you farming that out?

There is a "crew" involved in this one. My Dad is a fabric man and has done custom interiors, Two good friends are (Or have been) body men and worked on classics alot. I have another friend who is an ASE Master Mech. and loves elect. challenges.

Yes, we are doing the whole thing, practically building the entire car from scratch, thats why we are building a frame jig rather than going with the rotisserie. Rotisserie may come when the frame is done if it seems the job merits it, and if so we will "Build" a rotisserie.
In addition to the crew mentioned above, my Brother is an airframe mechanic (If it needs to be fabricated, lightweight and strong, he's the guy). With the group we have (And we are a quite screwy bunch ) .... anything is possible. If we need to build it, we'll build it. If we need to refab. it, we'll do that. Mostly with this bunch, it's meeting the challenge that the day to day no longer gives us.
After hearing all the ideas these guys toss around, my head is spinning and I sometimes shudder to think what the car may really end up looking like.
They have even spoke of trying to put a modern chassis under it from a car that is 3" wider and 113" center of wheel to center of wheel vs. 108" ( '91 Cougar LS, another item we have just sitting around). I could see cutting the length but I'm not sure how they would fudge the width. I'm afraid of ending up with a car that looks like one that was "Dressed for Halloween" that I saw in another thread. (Kevin's if I remember right). It was one wild looking crop.

That's better.  I can see more details now.
I use a program called PIXresizer to resize images.  It does a great job and it's freeware.  http://www.download.com/PIXresizer/3000-12511_4-10742662.html?tag=lst-1

Sounds like you've got a heck of a crew working on your Rustang.  Can't wait to see more

Thanks Ken, I'll try it out. I had been using "gimp" it was mentioned by another member of the forum. I works ok but no real preview to show final size very well.

67mustang1196 - Do you have to replace the "Toeboard" floor to firewall as well?  I will need to on mine, unless this bunch of geniuses I have with me can shove the '69s body onto that '91 frame.

mystangsbroke - Oh the verts are out there, they just are not nearly as popular as the FBs and right now at least everyone wants a '67 after that movie.

It is supposed to get cold and spit sleet at us here this weekend, hope next week is still nice enough to get some work done on the car.

putting a 69 Stang on a 91 Cougar, I'd like to that. Kicked around the idea myself of using a late model Mustang but the Cougar would be sweet with IRS. That would be a MAJOR undertaking but cool. Love to see your crew's skills at work, keep the pics coming!

The '91 Cougar we ordered for the wife brand new, nearly every option including the IRS and 4 wheel disk brakes. It now has 286,000 mi. on it and the head gaskets have gone out for the 2nd time, tranny is starting to slip. Makes the car a perfect canidate for a donor.

Now we have to get the front end off it, pull the engine and trans. then do alot of measuring to see if we can modify it for the Mustang. I always loved the way that '91 handled and would love to have that kind of ride and cornering in the 'stang.
My biggest concern is the width. We might have to widen the bottom of the Mustang slightly below the doors by reshaping the outter rocker and shave a little width off the cougar at the outside, but I'm not convinced it would look right and don't want to harm the overall apperance of the '69 when finished.
