Im new to the Mustang world I'd like to post pics but cant figure out how. Got my 70 coupe for free a couple weeks ago and Im excited because I can restore it relatively cheap and its soooo easy to get reproduction parts and they are cheap compared to restoring aGM musclecar of aroundthe same year. I will be putting my 69 Olds 442 convertible on the back burner for a long time cause it will be so much easier to finish the Mustang! Maybe more GM guys are buying up Mustangs hence all the new members?

I moved to the states recently and wanted a car. Always had my heart set on a Mustang and found a 70 Mach 1. I've been in and out of engine bays for 20 years and decided to buy a restoration project. I'm in the process of replacing floor, quarters, fenders and giving the engine a well needed rebuild. After that I need to see what will still work on a car thats been sitting in a field for 10 years!

Hey Guys,
I am new to the forums, but not to Mustangs. My first Mustang was a 1966 c code coupe thatI got whenI turned 16. Since then I have had 5 more, including an 85 GT, 85 Saleen, and a 93 LX 5.0. I joined the forums becauseI just bought a 66 6 cyl that I am going to be converting to an 8 cyl with modern tocuhes to make it a daily driver.

Some of my plans for the car include a T5 conversion, 4 wheel disk brakes, TCP manual rack, 8.8 rear end with 3.55 gears, and late model Bullitt wheels. Tungsten gray with Black interior.

I am thinking about the TMI sport seats, any thoughts?

MustangForums.com is growing at a tremendous clip! The board just crossed over 75,000 registered members, and at this pace will hit 100,000 in just a few months.

The Mustang hobby is booming and it's great to ride the wave!

New to forums - Long on Mustangs.

My Uncle had a 1969 GT500 FB when they were new - NICE car!

My brother had two 69 FBs a 67 coupe and a 66 coupe that is still in the pasture.

We rebuilt a 67 coupe for my mom back in the 80s.

I have had my 69 conv. for 2 yrs now. Have been getting the parts for a Shelby look conversion. +1 on the kids at the auto parts stores! I have just begun tearing mine down and will start on the frame soon.

See more pics in - Newbie all but owns the name "Rustang" take a look - thread.

Sorry about the low quality pics - the files were too big so I had to print and then scan them, but you get the idea. a lot of work ahead.

I thought I just saw emperor on here a few weeks ago, or I'm seeing things. What happened to mojo? And I missed that whole thing with Soaring because I was in the desert and too depressed to get on because I sold my 66. But I bought my 67 after moving so I'm happy again.

I'm not that new to the forum but I finally have a Mustang that moves under it's own power.

My first 66 coupe: Rustang
I6 (to be converted)

My second 66 coupe: no name yet
Original 289
http://www.kservers.net/route66/images/bluemustang/exterior/PA270001.jpg

Both cars are in need of some TLC, Rustang more than the blue one. I got the blue one from a coworker who's son spun it into a pole so the rear quarter and trunk are in need of repair.

Thanks for the welcome :D

I've been on here longer than you mat and I'm still retarded, then again I did sit out for awhile when I was in the desert. And its cool that people in our age group aren't ricing it up like everybody else. Also its always fun to see the looks on people faces when they see someone my age get out a 67, I'm 22. Its like they expect someone old like in their 40's.

Also its odd to have alot of people on here now who don't know who soaring was.

yeah, i love seeing other people out there like me. i mean all my friends are into the rice thing and it actually kind of pisses me off haha. but i do get weird looks from old guys all the time, i think it might be because a lot of them dont like seeing a 17 year old driving a classic because to them all teenages are retarded drivers and we always wreck our cars. haha.

At least a few members have joined as a result of MustangForums links posted on other boards either as an official advertisement or by individual mention in a post. In my case, I think it was through ProbeTalk, so with a (non-running, not mine yet) '66 sitting in my garageI stopped in. And stayed.

I really can't tell if 8 months here makes me part of the "old guard" or a newbie. Or adrift somewhere in the middle.

To at least a few of us, if you're only ~40 you're still only a kid, so, ummm, nevermind(and I'll save everybody the trouble of calling me an old f*rt by typing it myself) . . . :D. . . Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, help andgood information is where you find it. Sometimes it takes experience, other times a fresh eye or the ability to look outside the box.

Yeah its weird that alotta people don't know who Soaring or Mojo or Chicken is... I kinda miss their comments and stuff, even if Soaring was kind of a duesche every now and then... lol
But yeah a lot of us are younger, and know a few things cuz we've spent so much time out in the garage turning wrenches. And I actually got offered a job a several auto stores, not because I don't wanna work at Walmart, but cuz I could answer their customers questions better than the people behind the counter.

Acualy I think it's great that so many younger people are into the Mustangs, be it for improving speed, restoration or both. Improving knowledge is never a bad thing and you can't be into these cars without doing that. Not too many other places where 17,18, - 22 year olds would just strike up a conversation with a 40-60 year old on the spur of the moment. [sm=smiley32.gif]

I stumbled upon this site after doing a search and I am glad I did. It is a great place for info. I've had three 69's and my latest one hopefully will be my last. I didn't have one for the last 6 years and missed the sweet v-8 rumble. I got involved with the diesel truck modding and won a couple of races with it locally but I missed the sound and rumble of a v-8. So I found me a nice project 69 mustang. Glad I found it and this site. A lot of good info and great group of people here.

As long asnice looking 6 cyl coupes like yours can be found for the right price, these conversions will become more and more popular.... I am a huge fan of this procedure... A nice clean relativley rust free body allows more time and money to go to the fun stuff,,, like engines, drivetrains, and suspension.....

Nice looking car man....

And I didn't mean to call everybody over 40 old and ancient. I meant someone older than me and I used 40 as an example. You're old when you start getting letters from the AARP like my dad who got one last week. Sorry Norm but from what you said I'm going to guess that the old still includes you :D.

remicks - VF hasn't been nearly as active the last two or three weeks, so I hope everything's OK. That was quite the medical ordeal he went through back in September.

Me? It is what it is. No big secret, and my feelings certainly aren't going to get hurt over it. What mat11089 said in post #44 is right on the money- most of the time I feel like I'm still in my late 30's, and on an autocross courseI'm a 20-something again if only for a few seconds at a time.

You're only as old as you let yourself be, you just have tons of experience and that experience has helped me out on more than a few occasions. That is awesome that you autocross, I really would like to get my mustang in order to do that, still have a long way to go to do that.

What happened to VF? I had no idea something happened to him.

Whatever happend to that old guy that was even older than Soaring? 66GTK or something like that?

So now that Glen is gone, who's been here the longest?

I got an idea from your post baddog. We should find out who are the oldest and youngest members of the forums if no one minds disclosing their age. I already said I'm 22 so I'm out of both runnings.

This site has made owning a classic more enjoyable with the knowledge available on this site. I think its only right that we all contribute to this site for all its contributed to us. :D

...i have a previous name from years ago and all my donations have been credited to that name for some reason. I believe it states, "Multiple Contributor".....long live MF !

I have been here for a couple of months. I am 20 and have had my 66 for 7 years. If you think that getting out of a classic mustang gets the girls, YOU SHOULD RIDE A HARLEY DAVIDSON DURING HIGH SCHOOL!!! Some of my friends and myself have had bikes since we were 16 and 17. Go to the Myrtle Beach Bike Rally and see if you dont get noticed!!! Very Nice.

Lots of great info here. I definitely appreciate it. Thank you to everyone that helps!!! Without yall, this site would be apart of some Honder Forum.

You're talking about Jim from the Bay Area. He was a very knowledgeable guy with a sharp wit. Hopefully he returns some day.

Hmmm... does this mean I'm an old guy? Had my first mustang (65 coupe) in High School some hmmm...31 years ago. Every week I drove it to school it looked different as I was fixing rust and priming panels. Back then, a 10 year old stang was dirt cheap.

Took a break from cars as a hobby for20 years or so, then got back into vintage Mustangs in the mid-90s. I've had this particular one for 9 years.

Since I signed up way back when, it seems new members keep filling in and the old members slowly drift away. Everyone I knew from when I first signed up disappeared[&o]haha...

Welcome to all the noobs!

I know what you mean. Ihardlysee Emperor (occasionally in OT)or 65Mojoe on here anymore and I never see Soaring anymore since that thing happened.

But it's great that we have all these new members. Welcome to the forums and enjoy!

i dont think emperor has his classic mustang anymore. i think he ended up with a new shelby or something.

but yeah, seems like all the members who were here when i joined have left...well except like jamesw, dodgestang, superdavid and the like.

but at any rate, welcome to all the new members, this site has helped me many times and is a great source

Yeah, I remember Emperor saying something about a new Shelby GT a couple months back. None of my friends are into rice, most of them like jacked up trucks and LOTS OF POWER.:D

Scott with the dog who barks at cows. Clu7ch who was living in his car. Thumpin with his 40 cars (I never got to show him my 1967 Firebird). Nick with his amazing 'Stang he traded for a Nova.

I am quite new to this forum, just bumped on it when looking for technical info for Mustangs. Actually still looking for the info I need, but this is a very big forum with a lot of topics.
Who am I?
23 years old, living in Belgium, Bruges (historical city, nice to visit ;)). From degree a bachelor in Carmechanics, working on tractors from when I was a small boy , working on cars since my sister got herself a VW Beetle from 1971, restaurated completely myself .
After this restauration a friend of me bought also a Beetle and helped him with putting it back together.

Proud Mustang 1968 owner since a couple of months now. Mustang is coming from California, bit damaged by being in the container, but I am allready the2nd owner of it in Belgium.
For the moment , due to my work, not able to get working on the Mustang, hopefully she will be ready next summerto take me for a drive.

So that's basically it, why a Mustang, no idea , but when I saw this car when I was 15 years old , the noise , the looks, everything about her amazed me and made me realise that this is a car I was going to get when I was older, no matter what.

Hey Guys, I was here last winter off and on some.

Im 17 myself, 18 in about a week. I've haven't been hated on for being young... then again I've never really told anyone my age. So I guess theres some reasons. As long as you don't act like a retard I think your alright in my book. Were all on here for the same reason... we love mustangs. I love my 69 stang. I would never sell it... well unless its one of those things that once you get married and have kids that the wife goes "its got to go" but I got a long time till then. Maybe that time will never come... just got to find the right girl. lol

41 here.....
I dont feel it, yea maybee I get a few more achs and pains when I slide around under my Mustang, but I can still do it.
The weirdest part of getting old for me is when I see pretty women.
I used to be able and smile at a pretty lady, and sometimes she would smile back.
Now when I smile at a pretty lady, their eyes get big, and they appear to be saying “Pervert” right before they turn to their friend and point….[:'(]
Sigh…. I miss the good old days.

LOL I hear Stevetra!
Im 40 married a younger babe tho. Got lucky on that one.
Her and now my daughter is 15 built like a 20 yo swimsuit model and as pretty as her mom.
I was listening to the radio on the shop this weekend and the old stander song about having the girl in your car and the dad catches you.
I used to be that guy now im the dad cleaning the shotgun on friday nights before she goes out.
What happened to us man!?
