Whipple is fine for stock internals under 10 lbs of boost on a manual.  Not recommended for auto's.

Why not for automatics?  Never heard this before.

David

From what I have read Ford does not think the auto can hold that much power reliably so they dont recommend running the HO on it.  Read up in MMFF and they have a project car that they started with the non-int kit and later added the HO parts and custom tune.

So the short answer is you can do it but you will need a custom tune.

But if Ford says no I would be inclined to believe them.  Buy a built tranny first and then put the blower on and you will be happier IMO.

i have the H.O  kit and an automatic. just put it on and have been driving it around. all i can say is WOW!!! the car from a roll at half throttle lights the rear tires up. i have 373 and am going to change that to 390 with a detroit true trac which is sitting in my garage. i have the tune from jdm so far so good. ill see if the tranny holds up to this power

congrats from the MM&FF article JDM changes the timing and clutch engagement in the tranny to make it last longer and they have a good track record.

Congrats on blower.
