ORIGINAL: 99GTvert How do your motors take to bolt ons? Are they pretty responsive or kinda crummy like the 2V 4.6? Well to put it simply, V6s generally respond pretty bad to bolt on mods (basic bolt ons anyways). To get more power out of a 2V V6, you pretty much have to do the same thing as you do on a 2V 4.6L, and that's get rid of the bottle neck in the heads and intake, and or F/I. Now, the 4.6L does respond better to bolt ons than the 3.8L simply because it has more displacement, and can make better use of that mod. Now a properly tuned sixer, with the proper internal work, is extremely stong, much much stronger than a 5.0, and propably stronger than a 4.6L, but stock for stock, the 4.6L is a stronger engine.

Thanks to those that answered my question. I didn't post in here to start any more drama between the two engines themselves. I just wish that people would forget about, 'oh look at what you drive, that's why you think you are so __________', and just look more into answering a simple, innocent question. I'm happy to see no one started any name calling, so that's a sign of progress, but the bottom line is we are all on the same team regardless of motor, year or bodystyle.

actually, the 3.8 heads flow about the same as the GT40 heads and better then the NPI heads as for bolt ons, ehhhh depends on your definition of full bolt ons, but its boost that really gets the cars up and going

Before the V6 vs V8 can of worms gets torn wide open, I will toss out I've seen more V6's in stock trim take more than 4.6L in stock trim taking boost. But to be fair, the OHV V6 is more like the 302 pushrod 5.0L than the SOHC 4.6L. Yes, Justin, Matt (Neuharth), Tom, Gary, Keith and some others get tossed out for the V6 world... but they are doing it. 500, 600, 700 hp V6 cars are ALL still using stock blocks. There are also many guys are making over 400 hp on stock bottom ends. As long as you tune it. The inverse is true though as well - how many 4.6L or 3.8L guys have popped motors with a bad tune on minimal boost. And yes, the 4.6L crowd will say "You have a handful of cars total over 500 hp". But take the stock 170 hp stock numbers and compare % wise. How many 4.6L street cars are running around with 300% more power compared to all the guys with K&N and cat backs? Shoot, how many are running double stock hp numbers on stock bottom ends? (stir stir stir......)
