the new GTR is definitely badass but soo much money...

A new GT500 with markup isn't that much less.  Most of the dealers here in the midwest are marking up at least 15k for a GT500 and 5-10k for a shelby GT.

1) The new GT-R does not cost $80,000. Base price is $69K.

2) It will have no more of a markup than what GT500's had when they came out.

To whoever said it costs too much- The car makes more power than the C6 Z06, and costs the same. So someone, PLEASE, explain to me how it costs too much?!?!!?! The car makes 470+ awhp, can be daily-driven year-round, and will have loads of potential. How exactly does it cost too much'?? And whoever thinks this thing won't completely murder a GT500 is out of their mind......

I know you think this will be God's gift of cars, but let's think this through a little.

Let's say the "base" price is $69k. How many "base" models of these do you think will be sold? Let's say you're right and it's $69k, we'll round it to $70k. You also say it will have as much markup as a GT500 did. Some of them are still at $15k or more, but will say $20k even though alot of GT500's had a higher markup.

$70k + $20k = can you guess it? come on, you can do it....

$90k!  yAy!

Ok, you say it makes more power than a Vette? That means it's ineffecient at best then. Why you ask? It if makes more power, but is still the same speed as the old fashioned and lowly rear wheel drive Vette, that's right, "more power" but the same speed, is it really that great? I mean you have a super all wheel drive that can outperform and beat any other car off the line, yet with its more power it's the same speed as a Vette.

A friend of mine has an Evo VIII. great car, fast as hell. He HATES when I do a burnout. I'll let you think on that one. I'm about done here.

I really don't know why you're on these boards, it almost appears you give the Nissan badges on your car blowjobs every night, but to each his own.

ps. Hey man, lighten up some, people get so worked up over crap on the internet. I was just messin with ya, go drive your Nissan and be happy.

1) I never said it was God's gift. I simply recognize it for what it is, and give it it's due respect. What's wrong w/ that???

2) Yeah, you're right, there's also a "Premium" model. And it costs a whole 2k more.

3) The GT-R is awd  and weighs almost 600lbs more than the Z06. That's why it's no faster than it is. AWD loses a lot more power through the drivetrain, and we all know what weight does to performance.

4) I'm on these boards because I'm a car enthusiast, and believe it or not, there's a few other's on here as well. I'm not one of those brand-whores who likes what they drive and nothing else.

5) I don't even own a Nissan anymore. And I'm not a Nissan fan, I just happen to like the Z car and the new GT-R. So what??

6) You obviously don't get into the Street/Strip section too much. Otherwise, you'd see I'm not some crazy GT-R fanboy. I have an appreciation for all cars. But when someone is giving misinfo, or narrow-minded biased opinions and views, I'll step in and say something. This is, afterall, a public forum.

From a Nissan fan website.

"We're being told the new 2009 Nissan GT-R has a 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds, which should make it a Corvette Z06 killer. Now we've got a whole slew of official pictures thanks to magazines breaking the embargo"
“The GT-R lists quarter-mile time at 11.7 seconds and entering the Autobahn we had no reason to doubt that. The turbo boost was, as promised, very progressive, with little or no discernable lag, just smooth, even power delivery.”

Z06 corvette-
Stock Corvette Z06 has 10 second 1/4 Mile!

Talk about impressive!  Our friends over at AutoBlog alerted us to the post on CorvetteForum showing that Jamie Furman, driving a stock C6 Corvette Z06 with run flat tires got under 11 seconds, 10.98 to be exact at 129 mph at the Maryland International Raceway.  The time was validated by an official at the track, setting the record for the fastest production vehicle!

I am a car guy as well, and from these test ("I know that everyone drives differant, and times are always differant") But these 2 cars are going to be tight. I think the vette and the Nissan are 2 differant driving machines. Both have there place in the autoworld.

Let's for just a minute assume that you could buy one for $70,000.  Let's see a show of hands.  $70,000 Skyline, or a $70,000 Z06?

Didn't Nissan and Toyota learn before that high priced import sports cars don't sell very well here?

Before my last statment causes an argument, I'm sure some of you would rather have this Skyline, but I'm thinking the majority of the people that can spend that on car, won't spend it on a Nissan.

You guys. That is actually cheap. A R34 Skyline Gt-R would sell for over 95,000 new. 85,000 used. They weighed less than 2 tons.

Here are some specs of the R34.

Horsepower 277 bhp @ 6800 rpm
Torque 293 lb-ft @ 4400 rpm

Acceleration

0-40 mph                 2.7
0-60 mph                 5.2
0-80 mph                 8.7
0-100 mph                 13.0

0-1320 ft (1/4 mile)     13.7 @ 103.5 mph

Braking

From 60 mph 120 ft
From 80 mph 204 ft

Handling

200 ft skidpad 0.89 g
700 ft slalom 60.8 mph

Fuel Economy

Normal Driving 22.8 mpg

Interior Noise

Idle in neutral 52 dBA
Maximum 1st gear 78 dBA
70 mph    76 dBA

the Gt-R is the fastest AWD vehicle ever made. They began production in 1957 and stopped in 2002. They would beat a mustang like a supra does a cobra. BAD.

Okay, wow, where to start???

- The R34 GT-R makes a hell of a lot more than 277hp. It's more like 340-350. They were rated at 280ps because of Japan's 'gentleman agreement.

- It would take a pretty bad driver to only get a 13.7 out of an R34 GT-R.

- R34's were about 55ish when new in Japan. Nowhere near 95,000. You can buy a US-converted car for 75K-ish.

- There have only ever been 5 generations of GT-R. The GT-R didn't appear until 1969. It went away in 1973. It didn't reappera until 1989 w/ the introduction of the R32.

- The Skyline started production in 1957. There wasn't a GT-R until '69 like I said. And the Skyline never stopped production. The GT-R went away after 2002 w/ the end of the R34 gen.

- The Supra/Cobra comparison is vague at best. A stock MkIV Supra Turbo is comparitable to a 99-01 Cobra. A Terminator would murder it.

-The GT-R is NOT the fastest awd car ever made. Not even close.

And btw, that's coming from a Skyline/GT-R fan........

I'm sure there will quite a following for this new GT-R, but it's just not my thing.  I'd take a Corvette ZR-1 and drive home smiling.  Some may view driving a 100K Chevy the same way as driving a 70K Nissan.....but something tells me I probably wouldn't be able to do much of my own maintenance on the new GT-R.  That, and I'll take the ZR-1's sleek sexiness over the GT-R's awkward bulbusnous anyday.

Oh, and let's stop all the GT500 vs. GT-R nonsense.  It makes about as much sense as comparing a Boss 429 to a Lexus.  Two different kinds of car for two different kinds of enthusiasts.

Ah.  I didn't know they officially named it the ZR-1.  You'll have to excuse me, I've apparently been somewhere else the last few weeks.

Not sure about this but arent Z06s' hard to obtain? Here in Houston it has a HUGE waiting list.  I dont understand why theres so many people hating on this car. Its an effing nice car no doubt about it. Id get it over a viper or Z06(my opinion of course). My family has all sorts of cars from Japan to germany. They all tailor to different crowds. I for one dont like driving around ALL the time hearing my american muscle sound like its drinking a gallon of gas everytime i start from a red light :). Point is i'd love to have one of these and have more girls than i can handle crawling all over me(no offense ladies). Skyline=Baller car

and thisBlood147 is correct. WTH is with the GT500 vs GT-R???? Each of these cars is for different enthusiasts. Cant the import fans be happy they now have a "super car"  of their own that can hang with the likes of a Z06 and Viper?
