Have alot of mixed opinions on this beast. 80 grand is alot for this car but then again it does something that you can do with a GT500, go through snow . Dont get me wrong id rather build my fox to be faster then both but if I had all the money in the world id think aboot one.

if i had all the money in the world i wouldnt look at the GT-R. Id fix up my 67 all nice nice and race ready, buy a SSC Ultimate Aero TT, and quench my jap thirst with a screamin AE86 Sprinter Trueno.

Well when you are spending that kind of money for a car. Huh look at it well you got the GT500s coming out what are they gonna run around 50 grand ok well you got 30 grand more to put in you stang to compete with that rice burner. With 30 grand you could smoke him

I like that car a lot, until I learned about the price tag on one of those. 80k...
But just imagine the schmuck driving it... He'll think he is the fastest thing on earth because he is in a skyline...

Funny to hear someone complain about a ford fan boy...this is a mustang forum afterall... Yeah the skyline may grab better in the snow but heck, i'd rather my (imaginary) GT500 be clean in the dustless and temperature controlled garage. Heck, when I get my 08 in the spring, I won't even want that to see the snow or rain. Though it will, ggggrrrr...., haven't won the lotto yet and can't quite afford a junker.
Jap cars, bleh....they may look cool but imho they are kitty cars....nothing beats the sounds of raw V8 power and torque. Just the sound of a mustang idling gets me excited. Makes me want to race. You start a jap car and I usually want to laugh or call a doctor because it sounds sick. Most of the ones out hear sounds like angry weed whackers. Yeah they may get down the tracker faster, but it's just as awesome to sit there and watch the car smoke 'em...knowing that if only it hooked up it would have won the race. But hey everyone is entitled to what they want and like, me personally... I wouldn't be caught owning anything less then 8 cylinders or anything non-american other then German made.
Over 400 hp for the car eh? how much torque? that's the number that impresses me.
I thought i read somewhere that for 10k more this year you can get the shelby upgraded to a KR? Power rating was like 638hp when Shelby was interviewed. The way it read was like he laughed at that number, almost as if he was hiding the real potential....

I was in Barnes and Noble in the mall on Saturday night, saw Beowulf  , and a magazine had this on the cover. It was Motor trend or Road and Track or something like that. It said "Corvette Killler" on the front. I was compelled to read of course, and I kinda laughed.
It said the 0 - 60 was 3.8 and the 1/4 was 11.7
That's pretty fast for stock. Two problems though. The Z06 that's the same price as this car, has a 0 - 60 of 3.8 and a 1/4 of 11.7, by the same magazine. I thought it was funny they called it a "killer" when it was exactly the same. Also, the most important fact, was that beside the 0 - 60 and 1/4 times it had parenthesis which looked like this:

That means "manufacturer estimate".
It blew my mind that this magazine was telling everyone that it blows away Corvettes based off of what Nissan "says" the car will do, and even though it matches their own Corvette numbers.
Yes, if correct, those numbers are fast, but about right for that price.
It still remians the same that you can spend $25,000 on a Mustang GT, go drop 6-7k on a good blower and tires, and make faster times. I mean, look at Brenspeed. they have stock autos running low 11's after only the blower and drag radial tires added. Come on Nissan, where's the bang for buck attribute? Not in the Z, and not in this car.

It is fairly ignorant to call this car "Evil". It is a respectable car with a long history in Japan dating back to 1969. But i guess no one can change your minds on a Mustang Forum. This is what a nissan enthusiast says: " Ive always liked the sound of a turbo. They always make my head turn but I also love the grunt of a powerful V8." Respect.
These are the specs from Nissan of USA of the Japanese spec GT-R.
Specifications
Engine • VR-series twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6.
• 480 hp @ 6,800 rpm. 430 lb-ft torque @ 3,200–5,200 rpm.
• Dual overhead camshafts with variable intake-valve timing.
• Cast aluminum cylinder block with high-endurance/low-friction plasma-sprayed bores.
• IHI twin turbochargers, one per cylinder bank.
• Pressurized lubrication system with thermostatically controlled cooling.
Drivetrain
• ATTESA ET-S All-Wheel Drive (AWD) with independent rear-mounted transaxle integrating transmission, differential and AWD transfer case.
• Rigid, lightweight carbon-composite driveshaft between engine and transaxle.
• Electronic traction control plus 1.5-way mechanically locking rear differential.

I don't know. It's smaller and has AWD and is the same speed, stock, as a Corvette, stock. I was just expecting more I suppose. Don't get me wrong, powerful, fast, yes. Maybe if it looked better. That's just my opinion of course.
With all the hype, I was just expecting much, much, much more. It's being hyped as the car of cars, but really it's just another overpriced, but fast, vehicle. Oh well.

How can you possibly expect it to be faster for the price? It's faster around the Nurburgring than the C6 Z06, Porsche 997 GT3, Lamborghini Murciealago, and the Bugatti Veyron, and is nearly as fast as a Koenigsegg CCX, which has nearly 300hp more and weighs 1200 lbs less. This is a hell of a deal for $80,000, and there's still the aftermarket available....
