This guy at school was talkin smack about how his '07 SI can beat the hell out of my Mustang.... well what do you guys think would happen? From a dig what should happen assuming equal drivers? I've had the car about 3 months and been driving a stick for years. He just picked his up (still paper plates) but has been driving stick as long as me. Mine: '08 V6 5 speed his: '07 SI 6 speed
oh and there will be results I swear! the race is set for next monday..

dude its a driver race with the edge to the SI, he has less hp but a lot lighter. If you do race him make sure you do it off the line cuz u have the torque monster

I think I'm gonna go with driver's race also. Both are good for a high 14 or low 15 with good drivers. Going by albeedigital.com, the Civic will do the quarter in 14.9 and the 05 V6 Stang will do a 15.3. But, I don't like to go by magazines and online sources like that. They never seem to be spot on anyways.
Just watchout for when his v-tec kicks in, he might get you haha.
Now on a serious note.
You should be able to edge him out from a dig if you get the jump off the line. You could also invest in some small mods to help your cause. I don't know how the 4.0 is set up in the new Mustangs so I can't help you in that department.
I witnessed a SI muster a 14.92 at the track bone stock, I talked to the guy and he said he just got it and he wanted to see exactly what he could get out of it-pretty cool
IT was very hot and humid, but he was icing the intake manifold so i guess it cancels out.
EDIT: Not shure what that means in reguards to your race, I don't really have experiance with the new v6's but i'm guessing it will be a drivers race and u wanna go from a dig. practice your launch, it is everything.

Drivers race. Advantage to you from a dig, to him from a roll. He's an idiot if he says his car will "beat the hell" out of your, the race will probably be very close within 1 car length.
Get an intake, tune, and GT takeoff muffler and you'll be running around a mid 14.

from personal experience my friend in a built b16a2 si engine raced a gt on intake headers and exhause and beat him then again hes built he also raced a v6 stang automatic beat him off the digg in the end of the day its power to weight ratio so civic might have you but v6 stick might be able to take him itll be close
nd i have to agree that this is just a little honda fwd poser because a stock si will not whore a v6 stang i agree with others one car tops and not pulling

I'd say I've got my launch down pat. Looks like it will be a good race from the sounds of it. I've raced the hatch SI before beat it by a car at the most
Make sure you get a good luanch like the others said and you should have him. Also in a close race like this you need everything you can get. So dont have any extra weight. No spare tire or jack or anything. Race with less than 1/4 tank of gas to becuase that also weights you down. Also when you get to the spot your going to race, shut your car down really quick and lift the hood to let her cool. If you really serious about it you can get a few cans of air that people use to clean their key boards. Flip them upside down and spray it on the block and that will cool it down really fast. Dont spray it intop the intake becuase its all Co2.
But yea, cool the engine down, take out the extra weight and get a good luanch.
Good luck!

When I had my 05' V6 I had a tune and intake and i was beating GS-T's and crap... I only ran a couple, but they're pretty comparable...
If you can drive your car you should win... There isn't much torque to the honda and they're not that light anymore... It's 2900lbs, with 197bhp and 139lb ft torque.... your car is 3350lbs 210bhp/240lb ft tor.
The torque may save your life with this race... your going to kill him off the line and he will be playing catchup.. Your saving grace, is that once your in the high rpms, he doesn't have AS much of a advantage from the weight... Also, you should launch better due to your RWD vs his FWD... just run em and find out.

they've run a best of mid 14s stock, and they trap 94-97mph
the v6's run a best of low 14s stock, and a 91-92 trap
from a dig to an 1/8th u should have em with drivers bein equal, after that, all bets off.
You do mean the new sixxers run low 15s right?

V-6 is for real drivers. Go buy a Jetta if you want gas mileage and a chicks car. Buy a V-8 Mustang if you have no driving ability and need the extra horsepower to compensate and feel like you''''''''re fast.

I told you I would get results and I did! We ran 3 times. 1st race I revved to 1900 and held it and launched perfectly nearly no spin. He launced from around 5-6k and spun hard. I had about a half a car on him after 1st, put another half on through 2nd. End of 3rd (around 105) I had almost 2 cars on him. 2nd race I had the exact same launch. He brought the revs around 2500 or 3k and spun just a little. I had his front bumper to the drivers side door through 1st, second I spun very little and put a half a car on him through 2nd. shifted into 3rd and gained another car. Mustang by car at the most. 3rd time I had the same launch again and he got an amazing launch too dunno what he launched at. end of 1st I had him to my front fender, 2nd gear had him at my back bumper and end of 3rd i had a half a car at the most. He did just get the car (still had paper plates) but he is already pretty good at driving it. Was hella fun thats for sure.
I am sorry, but to launch at 5k-6k rpms on street tires in the civic something would have broke. If the kid knew how to drive the civic better he probably would have got you. I can get pretty decent launches at about 3500 rpms with very little wheel spin. It isn't the hardest launch but thye results are better than expected. I raced a gti with an intake and turbo back exhaust. With the launch I shot out ahead of him and stayed there for the whole race.

I don't see a 4.0 having too much trouble with a stock SI.
