As yall know, I am saving for the s/cso it's always good when I can save a little. I have already purchased my motor oil...so is it ok to get my oil changed at like a Jiffy Lube rather than the STEALership. Afterall, they are only changing the oil...is it necessary to pay more and go to the dealership? Thanks
I don't know if you'll be able to take it to jiffy lube to have it changed. Your car might be too low to pull into the bay. I got my tires replaced and I went to several places before I found one that had a lift that could pick it up.
And I don't want to scare you about quick change oil places because 99% of them are excellent.....but Jiffy Lube stripped my oil pan on my VW Jetta because they screwed up. My oil pan leaked slowly for over about 3months before I realized it. (to their credit, they paid for it). Since then I take my VW to the dealership.
Another horror story: I had a friend that took histhunderbird in for an oil change and theymixed up the hoses for transmission fluid and oil. His car died about a mile away and the engine was shot.
Obviously this could happen anywhere, but be careful of places that put a premium on speed and hire low-skilled labor. I know you worked hard for your car.
I use Mobile 1 in my car so it comes right out of the container but the point on stripping the bolt is a good one. Igo to a Jiffy lube type place and they put some boards up that I drove on to get the front end a little higher to get over the rails that run along the edge of the pit so the car doesn't fall in. Worked fine. $35 or 40.00 I think for Mobile 1 10W50. I beleive.

I took the car to Jiffy Lube...no problems there. OF course they tried to get me to replace about 5 other things while I was there like fuel filter (which I did), they also said they wanted to replace my rear diff fluid and flush the injectors but I didn't want to pay for those at the time.
