Ok so I have an 07 V6 AUTOMATIC which I love to death. However I was considering on purchasing an 08 GT manual later this year until I saw something that caught my eye....an 03 red and black on black rims....mach 1. Its priced at 18k and I intend on trading in my 07 V6 for it. I figured, why get a GT when I can get a mach 1 and spit on all those GT's like they spit on me when I had a v6? So Im still gonna chill with all my sixxer buddies and still show all the sixxers love on the streets that I meet however when I see one of those little pussy GT's Im gonna laugh and give them the finger.

Thanks thats why Im hoping for. Honestly my sixxer that i got now is my first car ever and my first mustang so i have no idea what a terminator is [&:]:(yes im a noob. Oh and the mach 1 is like 18 and has 39k miles on it but is in good condition. The only problem is.....its manual...and....i dont know....how to do manual......[&:]:(:(:(:([&:]:([>:]:(:([:o]im so screwed. I mean ive seen it done and I tried a manual GT 500 (went flying out of the garage followed by a cloud of smoke). I mean its simple, push clutch all the way down, turn ignition, push clutch all the way down, put it in gear, slowly let off the clutch while you push on the gas. 0-20 first gear 20-35 second gear 35-45 third gear 45 -60 fourth gear 60-up fifth gear. Let off gas pedal, clutch down, change gear, let off clutch, push gas. I mean i got all that down its just that it seems a bit more difficult in actually doing it. Like all things i suppose. Can anyone give me a quick lesson on how to shift?

my father showed me how to drive a stick when i was 16 getting my license so i could drive the FIAT he was giving me(i'm 23 now,beeng driving sticks ever since)..it will only take a few hours worth of driving a stick and you'll have it down well enough to get by on the road..i started in an emtpy parking lot just in case,then moved onto small side streets with stop signs on hills(gotta learn to catch first pretty quick in those situations as to not drift backwards into someone)then off on to the main roads...after a few hours i was able to get myself back home from his house and to school the next day just fine.

the "hardest" part is getting out of netural and into first,once your in first and rolling..its a cake walk

And what happens if your Mach 1 gets beat by a S197 GT with bolt ons? What next? Sounds like your opinion on S197 GT owners has been ruined by a few narrow minded people.

I'd get the 08GT just because its a new car. But if you don't want to spend that much money and want some faster, that Mach 1 seems like a good deal and is reasonably low on miles. Take a close look at that car to make sure it hasn't had too much abuse.

i love the sn97 machs, i wouldnt get it just to get back at the s197 gt's tho. thats just tasteless. its a great looking car, imo it has a very unimpressive interior but is still a nice car. just dont be a dick when u get it.

Dude, no ? get the mach! It's a 4v not a 3v like the s197gt so it reacts better to mods than them. Also, I will probably be cheaper on insurance since it's older but I'm not sure. It sounds like a beast stock if you've ever heard it in person. Definitly get it. Learning sticks not hard, just practice in a parking lot with a good teacher for a 1/2 hr and you'll be fine. Don't be regretful, just hang with the guys packing 6 cylinders over the 8's, and don't let them hang out with you unless they can take you in a race. ;)

Ok thanks, Im gonna see if I can get my dad to take it to a big parking lot at a stadium and let me practice for a bit. He knows how to drive stick. And totally, Ill for sure be chilling with the sixxers. I mean I guess if you got an 8 Ill kick it with you but just be kool. And I aint gonna talk down on teh sixxers :)

You'll get the hang of shifting gears.....it's not that hard.
Some folks like to down shift when going into a lower gear. I put mine in neutral and let her coast and if the light turns green before I stop, I put it in a gear to match the speed.

dont just take into consideration the fact that its a 4 valve, i'd also look at which fits more comfortably. ive heard alot of people say the shifter on the SN97's fit awkwardly. also, the 08 is a newer car, looks better (IMO), and can hang right with the Machs. But if youre gonna go with a Terminator Cobra (03-04) i'd say go for it. those things are SICK!!!

Mach 1's are a tenth quicker than stock 05+ GT's. I suggested the Mach 1 over it b/c insurance is gonna be cheaper probably and mods will definitly net more hp on the mach 1 because it has 4 valves per cylinder and not 3 like the new GT. That's my 2 cents.

Dude drive what makes you happy!!! The Mach is a great car and will be very collectible in the future. The GT will be a better car preformance wise and will cost more. If your doing because others don't like you car then you might wanna buy a prius. There will alway be someone who hates you car and if you own a prius everyone will hate it....

I went down to the place today and got to test drive it. I was still sitting on the lot when the guy said I could rev it, I did and set off every lincoln and mercury car alarm around me. There are no mods on it, just a new air intake from K&N. The guy that owned it before me traded it in for a Saleen that they had sitting on the lot. Clean bill of health and doesnt seem to have the ticker problem that I was told about. I may be purchasing it either tomorrow or the next day depending on when my next off day is. Now all I have to do is clean the bird **** off the side of it. Its been sitting on the lot for a while and nobody has even wanted to look at it before I came along.

you're a freakin' idiot. a mach 1 is NOT faster than an 05-06-07-08 GT S197. it's simply not. it has like 10 more hp (maybe if you're lucky) and less torque. i can run a 13.4 in the 1/4 in my 100% stock down to the tires s197 GT. and that's with the shaker 1000 and no weight reduction. i can roast mach 1's all day long. so don't think you're gonna go beating on GT's, because you won't be able to. maybe if they're auto's with no tunes and have 3.31 gears...MAYBE. otherwise, no. you will NOT take out a s197 GT with 3.55 gears and a manual trans. it just won't happen. period.

if you don't believe me, i'm up for a race anytime. and even with bolt-ons, i'll still kick your ass.

bottom line: enjoy owning a mustang, we are all a team - not enemies. and if you try and take out the GTs, or bash on them, you will get your ass handed to you both on the road and maybe in a fight as well.

Were you on Drag Radials?Cause if it's true, your the most bad ass driver an S197 GT has ever had.;)And stock for stock S197 GT's are a tenth slower than Mach's, with equal driver's. That's because the mach is 100lbs less than the S197GT(They have about the same hp/torque #'s.And like I stated mod for mod with equal drivers, S197 GT's would getbeat even more, ask any knowledgable person on here. It's just plain engineering, 4V(valves per cylinder) is better than 3V when it comes to mods. I must sayS197 GT's due look better though.Don't put your biasedopiniononwhich cars faster when its not. Clear cut your a very good stick driver, or had perfect conditions and DR's.

I mean I have a six and I will take a mach out easily, I can even give a GT500 a run for its money. So don't buy it if you think since it's a mach it's better than all other cars on the road. If you do that then you will just be like one of those GT guys that made fun of you cause you had a six. And I don't care what people say it is more fun to have a six and kill a GT than to have a car that is more expensive than a GT and only beat it buy an inch or two. Anyways get a cobra or stick wit your six. Go Big or Go Home, and if you can't afford to get the best than stick with what you have and make the best out of it, is what I always say.

That's a very good point! If you want a fast car, save for a monster or super/turbocharger the 6.Mach's aren't bad, but their only a little stepabove the new GT's, then cometerminators(Cobra's) the king's of the road when it comes to mustangs, then come vette's. Savefor a supercar or havea plan that will make you a monster. There are people on here with 4.0(V6) stangs that run low11's and 10's.That's a very costly project and I wouldn't suggest that unless you want a monster 6 that's not very street reliable.My real ? foryou is, do you want power? looks? or both? Both New GT isyour way! Power, you can get a terminator, 99-04 GT, or even a fox body 5.0and dump money inthat.Just looks, stick with the 6 and if you want a respectable street car, throw aGOOD turbo or supercharger on itand you'll see around400hp+(crank). If that's not enough power, definitly go one of the other ways. Good Luck!

Not in my neighborhood but def in my area. The one in my neighborhood is pretty kool tho she is a chick. Its just I cant stand these pompous pricks with GT and they like "Why did you get a v6 or laugh at me" and it was all i could afford. Im sorry my parents didnt buy me a f*cking brand new shelby gt or a roush.

actually steelstang, it has alot to do with valve size/geometry. not just how many valves you have. also, the 1/4 mile times you have are probably from automatics according to ford, am i right? if so we all know that the autos in the new stangs suck for throttle lag, so a stick race would probably be alot closer.

Mach 1's run low 13's. If you think those power ratings are accurate you don't know what you're talking about. Mach 1's put down closer to 320hp. They're also lighter than S197 GT's.

Just because young guys have their newer cars doesn't mean that their rich parents got it for them. I mean look at me I am 22 and I have a really sweet ride that would put your mach to shame and guess what its a six. Im not trying to be a jerk but I'm just saying I have worked for everything that I have. So I suggest you just save up and get a cobra, if it really means that much to you to beat a GT when my lil ol 6 could easily beat your mach. Hell I laugh at the guys who think because they have a GT they are da bomb. But yeah just because someone that is only 22 and has nice things doesn't mean that their mommy and daddy's bought it for em. My mom and dad don't even live in CA either they live in Iowa.

I'm 23 and I paid for my own car, and mods, and insurance. I also pay about $2000/month for tuition.

When i saw it honestly the gt guys didnt enter my mind until I stareted looking at it more and I figured why not smoke a few of them. It just really pissed me off cause of what they said and did. you're a freakin' idiot. a mach 1 is NOT faster than an 05-06-07-08 GT S197. it's simply not. it has like 10 more hp (maybe if you're lucky) and less torque. i can run a 13.4 in the 1/4 in my 100% stock down to the tires s197 GT. and that's with the shaker 1000 and no weight reduction. i can roast mach 1's all day long. so don't think you're gonna go beating on GT's, because you won't be able to. maybe if they're auto's with no tunes and have 3.31 gears...MAYBE. otherwise, no. you will NOT take out a s197 GT with 3.55 gears and a manual trans. it just won't happen. period.

if you don't believe me, i'm up for a race anytime. and even with bolt-ons, i'll still kick your ass.

Looks like I hurt somebodies feelings. I dont like the GT owners in SA period that own s197. The older model GT owners like the sn95 and sn97 are pretty chill. Its those little prick kids that got their GT because mommy or daddy bought it for em and now think they are the social and mustang elite. Just because young guys have their newer cars doesn't mean that their rich parents got it for them. I mean look at me I am 22 and I have a really sweet ride that would put your mach to shame and guess what its a six. Im not trying to be a jerk but I'm just saying I have worked for everything that I have. So I suggest you just save up and get a cobra, if it really means that much to you to beat a GT when my lil ol 6 could easily beat your mach. Hell I laugh at the guys who think because they have a GT they are da bomb. But yeah just because someone that is only 22 and has nice things doesn't mean that their mommy and daddy's bought it for em. My mom and dad don't even live in CA either they live in Iowa.

Oh I know there parents got if for them because at the highschool that I got and chill at with some of my friends that havent graduated yet I hear them bosting about how their parents bought them this, and bought them that. dude You are in denial if you really think that awell driven mach 1 would not beat a S197 GT. I think it is a drivers race but stock vs stock with equal drivers the mach 1 will edge out the GT.

Ok so I have an 07 V6 AUTOMATIC which I love to death. However I was considering on purchasing an 08 GT manual later this year until I saw something that caught my eye....an 03 red and black on black rims....mach 1. Its priced at 18k and I intend on trading in my 07 V6 for it. I figured, why get a GT when I can get a mach 1 and spit on all those GT's like they spit on me when I had a v6? I killed a GT/CS kid clutched out at the stop light. The only mod on the mach so far from the previous owner is a new air intake from K&N. Im going to probably throw some bassanni midlength headers,offroad x-pipe, and Lm1's on it to begin with.

+10000 Fly with your lil 6 as I saw in a magazine. Even when I get my mach im only gonna chill with the other sixxers and mach 1. I aint even goin to hate if its a v6 auto like mine.

Hate to burst everyone's bubble but it's just a car and everyone has their own opions and people will do what they want to. It is just a toy. It's not like he is having a kid and doesn't know if he is going to get an abortion or something. It's a car is all. Not just saying that a mustang is just a car but compared to more important issues that is all it is. Get what you want and be happy with it and don't regret what you choose. That was the only reason why I say Cobra cause that is basically the best mustang that you can buy and how could you regret that?.

Well maybe we dont got all the money in the world to afford a GT and all that goes with it, Automatic sucks? Hell maybe some people actually DONT KNOW how to do standard yet or just want the luxury of not playing with a shifter every few seconds, like maybe change the radio station, throw in a cd or ipod, hold your gf's hand, smoke a cig, drink a soda hell something. No Im doing this for the sixxers, Im doing this for ME, Im doing this because I fell in love with Mustangs along time ago and I want to be the fastest mustang racer there ever was and by god Im not going to sit here and let some f*cker on the other side of the computer screen tell me I cant do it or I wont make it. Even with my Mach 1 Im going to hang with the sixxers FIRST ABOVE ALL OTHERS, except other Mach 1's. Im going to do my very best to make the other mach's proud of me that we own the same car. Its time that the little guys and the sixxers terroized the streets, not the GT's, not the over priced shelbys, not the pathetic roush's and sure as hell not those ugly Saleens. Ill chill with them last and only if I personally know the driver and they kool. So F*ck you guys, Im getting my Mach 1, and Im going straight to the top and when I get there Im going to be proud to say I owned a V6 Automatic as my first mustang. To all those that offered me words of encouragement and helpfull advice thank you for all your help. Especially the other Mach owners and the other sixxers out there. Its time to get out there and show people what sixxers can do, show the people what rookies can do and hell that if you believe in yourself and your car there is no limit to what you can achieve. Even beat these suppossed superior cars with a V6 AUTOMATIC. So when I do get more and more famous and start signing autographs and kissing babies Im going to send out my love to the sixxers and automatics and the Mach 1's first. Dont worry Ill get a trach going and Im going to personally invite all of the GT's, Shelby's, Saleen's, and Roushes I can find and Im going to line up all up and knock em all down. Pretty amazing that the COBRA'S are the only ones that aint complete dicks with the v8 under the hood, even the other mach owners were helpfull and supportive. So heres my deal, Im going to the top and Im gonna use this 03 Mach 1 to do it. Im going rep my mach to the fullest and the sixxers who I came from.

And kill GT's all day? No Im not going to kill them, Im going to chew em up and spit em out all day while their drivers cry. Im going to terroize vettes and their old drivers till they have heartattacks, and Im going to find me a Supra and poud it into the worlds head that that supra is NOT a super car.

Ok heres the bottom line cause im tired of talking about it. Im going to get that Mach 1 tomorrow. Anybody who says Im getting it for the wrong reasons or Im going to still get beat or whatever your saying F*ck you. Once you've learned about shifting, there's something called powershifting-fastest way to shift a manual. It's good for speed, but bad on your transmission if you don't do it 100% correct.
