Ok now first of all.
I have read around and everyone says 302s-351ws are the way to go.
I agreed and when I found a buddy with a 70s cougar
and what he said was a 351windsor I jumped all over it.
he let me just pop the drivetrain because he was just gonna junk it anyway.
One snowy day later it was out.
Of course now its out and in the back of my truck, but
When I get home I start looking at my thermo housing...
Wait A minute thats supposed to come out of the intake...
The motor originally had a FMX with it.
However I bought a 351CJ with a C6.
I needed the bracketry and some bolts so I bought the CJ and C6 for 150$. Both ran...
So I also have a 4-bolt main stock short block sitting here all wrapped up...
So after all that work Its a 351C.
Now its going in no matter what.
Right now its got stock 2v heads, 292 cam, rebuilt 2v-short block
hei pick-up, old edelbrock performer dual-plane intake.
And its mated with a c6 now.
While I am trying to drop it in now, and I am running into a few problems.
First I had A small clearance problem with the bellhousing. 10-minutes and a 10 pound hammer later it found room.
now I have the drivetrain an inch above my motor mount bolt hole and suddenly I am stuck...
My pan is hitting the rack...
I am looking into having the pan cut and clearanced to the bottom of the rods. Once thats out of my way I am good as gold.
Now coming up with an exhaust will be another nightmare.
I was wondering if anyone else here has done this and can tell me what they did or any other pointers.
Also what kind of starter I need 9 or 10 tooth.
The Flywheel and c6 is from a 71 mach I
Also if the driveshaft will have to be shortened ( the c6 mount fell 1/4 inch off of the hole on my original trans mount. I just lengthened the holes...)
And any exhaust tips would be helpful...
Phew.. thats a lot of typing
