I've always wanted my stang to sound like this...http://youtube.com/watch?v=F5kPmJB-T3A This sounds very similar to an O/R X with MAC axlebacks does it not? Of course not as loud on the s197...but loud like my setup. I was trying to go for that sound with my current setup.
Wont Pass state inspection without cats, want boomtubes, O/r X Pipe, and Long tube headers what should I do? and which to go with

you are absolutely, 100% correct. at WOT, the combo you mentioned is the closest sounding to that clip a mustang can get. a prochamber might be closer, but i wouldn't hold my breath.
ANYHOU
my friend Donnie (Norse1974) has that setup, and i have some vids of his car posted in the exhaust thread. here they are if your too lazy haha
under normal driving, when the rpms reach the highest point of amplificative (SP? is that even a word???) resonance, they get kind of a nasty, sometimes undesireable sound. under anything but high rpm WOT, they won't sound anything like that trans am. but in my personal opinion, mac axlebacks and o/r x pipe is one of, if not THE BEST sounding exhausts for WOT. its just not my tastes for otherwise situations.
Can someone look at my post( like 2 above) and tell me what the difference between those two xpipes are? Unless im blind I just see the price is different.....

heres my opinion. do not buy your exhaust based on what people say in a forum no offense to anyone but people are just going to say what they have is the best. but in their opinions, they probably are the best. the only way to decide which is best for you is to listen to the exhaust in person. find out where people are showin off their mustangs or something.....
but if you want my OPINION..... flowmasters all the way baby.. and hey what a coincidence i happen to have them on my car.

hmm.. sorry if this has been asked before.. but i want maximum HP gain... thats all im concerned about... well.. id prefer to keep it quiet too though, i don't want too much attention or to scare off ppl who want to race (and since i stay out till 2am frequently I don't want to wake the neighbors just pulling in)

as far as exhaust goes, more hp = loud, i.e., removing cats, LT's will make it all louder. if you go LT's, o/r mid pipe and stock mufflers, that should give you good gains but not real real loud.. it will still be pretty loud.
