Geez-- I'm beginning to wonder if replacing my stock grill with a mach 1 delete is even worth it.
Is there anyone with a 99-00 stang that had a TON of trouble getting the bolts on the bottom of the grill off. Mine seem to be completely rusted and practically stripped. It took a half hour and a ton of WD40 to get one off. We gave up and will have to work on it another day, but it's really ridiculous.
Also, whomever has one on their car... did you use your stock hardware, or replace it with new hardware? I think I might get new hardware as most of that is crappy and almost stripped too.
See, mine came from mustangtuning.com and is the 3 piece set, but no new hardware. I suppose I'm supposed to use the old hardware then?
i guess so. Mine came from steeda. I think it just snapped in, and glued down with double sided tape. Then it came with a couple bolts to hold the horse on, and screw the top piece down with existing..

I guess mine is a Steeda as well, but sold through Mustang Tuning. I have the double sided tape and all that as well.
I just can't get the damned bolts off the bottom. Arg! I got so cold standing out there, I'm gonna work on it another day. When it's warmer.

i have an 04' so the bolts weren't rusty yet but they were facing down when i tried to get them off...it took forever to get my hand in there to take them off
i had the same problem as well - it helps if you have a shorthandled wrench or even better, a ratchet wrench. i actually was getting a fender fixed around the same time so i just gave up and had the guy do it for me....

I had the same prob. What I did is take the headlights out and bend the top of the bumper out as far as i could safely bend it and then undid the bolts. major pain and i wouldn't advise bending the bumper like me, but it worked....safest alternative is to remove the bumper i guess?
It is a pain took me like 15 minutes to get them off cuz the heads of the bolts are so thin. Just use a 7mm wrnch stick ur lil hands in there and turn it clock wise!!! lol I was turning it counter clock wise at first but then i remembered that the vehicle is facing the other way lmfoa!! I'd try that or have ur bf do it... lol j/p
im 5' 11" and 135 lbs and pretty skinny, i got my hands in there no problem b/c i had my mom hold the bumper out while i reached in there to take out the bolts. i cut up the top of my hand pretty bad though- it looks much better w/ the mach 1 delete imo.
DAMN YOU ARE SKINNY lol, yeah just have someone with little hands reach in there. Im 5'11 175 lbs and I didnt cut up my hand just a few scratches. Just take your time, you have to be patient do it on a sunday
yea i have a fast metabolism... i eat 4 meals a day and cant gain wait. o well, my dad says he was the same way. *make sure you clean the bumper with alcohol to remove any dirt before laying down the piece with the adhesive strip. then apply pressure and it will be fine*
i did it in about 45 minutes on my '99 about a year ago when i bought it. i couldn't stand the honeycomb grill. good luck with it.

Yeah, the bolts are tiny. Not to mention mine are kinda rusty and old, so it doesn't help. I can't get my hand down in there, I got so frustrated. My boyfriend did get one off, like I said. But I'm hoping there's some easier way to get to them. Following the instructions makes it kinda difficult.

I completely cut the original grille out with a dremel. It's a PITA but doable. I didn't attach it from underneath. Mine sits perfectly and stays put with the two bolts at the top of either side.

Mine wasn't too bad, just carefully bend up the bumper and take out the screws. The bumper will actually bend up pretty far to give you some room to work. If you are careful with it you wont have any problems damaging it. Took me maybe 30 mins to get the old grill off (but my car was a month old at the time). I got mine from Mustangtuning aswell and it didn't come with new hardware, just the double sided tape. Seems to be enough to hold it down though, I've had it like that for over a month with no issues. You can't reuse the screws in the new grill (they will fit but wont do anything). Take a look at it and you will understand why they wont work.
