Default Soon to be Mustang owner?

Good morning, everyone! I am a brand-new member here on these forums because I am very interested in purchasing an 05 Mustang. I've never owned a Mustang before, so I have a lot of reading to do. I'm a regular on some other car forums, and I know how informative they can be.

I will gladly appreciate everyone's input on the 05s. V6 and GT...but alas, I have to have automatic transmission. I haven't test driven it yet, so I need to make sure I feel comfortable behind the wheel (i'm short, so not all cars work well for me). I like power, but I also like reliability...I'm also realistic about how much I can spend on a new car; hence why I'm seriously considering this car.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope to hear from many of you, 05 owners and otherwise. Your suggestions and advice are greatly appreciated.

Best,
Sarah

Welcome! and good luck, I do not have an 05 but I have test driven one and I am really impressed with them. You can not go wrong with a mustang no matter what year. Again, welcome and when you get one make sure you show us some pics of the car and you too.........[sm=badbadbad.gif]

Thanks! I'm very anxious to go test drive hte 05. Never have owned a Mustang, but I have always preferred American muscle to any other car genre out there. My paychecks don't afford me anything too pricey, which was another reason to consider this car. Plus the aesthetics.....damn skippy sweet, if you ask me!!!

Well, I fit the cliche and am a female who hasn't learned to drive a manual yet. That's in the makings, though.

The reason I want an automatic is because I broke my wrist less than a year ago, and while I'm fine now, I NEVER could have driven a stick with just one hand. Maybe a petty or silly reason, but that experience alone taught me that having an auto can make a huge difference.

LaSarita75--I bought an auto, and I love it. Actually, on another forum, someone posted that the auto's 0-60 time was faster than the manual. Only by a scant second or so, but still, the two are very, very comparable. Sure, someone who's really good with the stick will win, but the auto's no slug.

Either way, this is a fast, fast car. I drove a stick 280zx years ago, and can still do it (my hubby's car is a stick), but still prefer the auto, especially for the kind of in-town, stop and go driving I do. And I can't even tell you what a pain it is to try and talk on a cell phone and shift at the same time. "Hold on," shift, "Hold on," shift. Ugh! Sure, you can buy a headset, but that's kind of a pain, too. But, I will say, most guys want a stick, but even my hubby said he was impressed by the smoothness and quickness of the 05's auto tranny. It's quick, believe me! You won't regret the auto at all.

Hello Sarah !! Welcome to the forums. You have to drive the GT auto. I test drove two while making my selection the last two months, you are in for a treat. You will hear a lot of members say stick or nothing, and while I did buy the GT 5spd manual, the 5 spd auto realy scoots with the V8. My son is 5'3" (11 yr. old), and seems to do fine as a passenger looking out. The seats don't seem to have height adjust, the doors have a height that makes it difficult to put your armout the window. This makes it feel like you are down in the seat, but may be an allusion.

A test drive will let you know right away !! [sm=badbadbad.gif]

I have been having so much fun with this new car, I can't recomend it enough. If you plan to test drive, you better be ready to purchase soon, cause it has that got ta have it feeling !!

Best of luck, be sure and let us know what you do, Pony or not !!
