I am up grading to 18 x 8.5 rims from oem 17 x 8's on my 05 GT FRPP catalogue states need to install steering stop  I have part but have no idea where it fits. Can anyone help even the parts guy a my local ford dealer didn't know . I assume this is to prevent tire rub I see other installing wider wheels without mention of problems with fit, tires will be 255x45x18 Nittos
Thanks for any help

You dont need to install anything, I upgraded from 16x7 to 17x10 and I had no issues at all, I actually bolted them on myself.... You shouldnt have any rubbing issues even if your lowered...

Per http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=9095, if you are going 17x8 -> 18x8.5, you need to order steering stop 6R3Z-3932-CA .

Edit: Let me know how you like them; I am considering doing the same thing.

Thanks for the input, I have 18x8.5 black bullitt's with Nittos installed, I can't see any clearance problems. Cranked over steering wheel in both directions and no rub. I bought the part anyway. But ford racing tech support and my local ford dealer I bought the part from can't tell me where I goes If any one knows, help!!! I dont have many miles yet on the Nittos's but traction, wet and dry, is great, less road noise than OEM pirelli's I'm happy with my choice. My son says the wheels look "sick". I think that means good. I'll send pix soon

Hm, all I know is what the FRPP site said.

On a related note, it looks like the 18x8.5 bullitt wheels are gone from there.  Does anyone know where I might find a set?

No, TR really does not have them.  I have looked.  They (the 18x8.5 version, at least) is gone from the FRPP site, too.

I checked the tire rack web site today and this page should take you to 18 x 8.5 black bullitt rims from FRPP

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=wheelCloseUp&wheelMake=SVT&wheelModel=Bullitt+18&wheelFinish=Black+w%2FMach+Lip
you can try and click on the link , if not you can copy and paste to your address bar it should take you to the  the page
These are 18 x 8.5's they get lots of looks I also found the wheel on page 55 of the 2008 FRPP catalogue you can view or download as a pdf file

Strange.  Ford Racing isn't listed as a manufacturer when you list wheels for 2005+Mustangs.  SVT is listed as having the black w/machined lip version of the bullitt wheel, but when you click on details there is only the black and chrome version (no silver like your like above showed).

As for the catalog, I am sure it's in print, as I saw them on the FRPP site.  I remember that the first time I saw them on TireRack, they were listed as closeouts, so when the dissapeared from the TR and FRPP sites, I figured it was probably for good.

Yeah, I also need help here. I Have the Black Bullet Wheels 18x8.5" with 245/45/r18" tires on my 96 mustang gt, with 1/4 wheel spacers on it. My problem is that the front tires rub on the sway bar when i make sharp turns. Is there any way that I can fix that so they dont rub? I think that I may need a steering stop as well but im not sure.

I wish I could help I have the 18 x 8.5's on my 05 GT I have'nt had any issues with tire rub Yet! As reommended by The FRPP catalogue I bought the appropriate steeriing stop. As I have posted eariler the Ford parts Rep and FRPP tech support can't tell me where the part installs, I even bought a 72 hr online subscription to the Helm ford shop manual but no help there may be if any one on this forum ha a full copy of the manual they can help. Here's a pix of the "Steering Stop" Anyone have any ideas
