personally i wouldnt want another one, freakin hate it

-but i guess theres the whole its slower than a coupe because its heavier so you wont be going as fast

-wind blowing through your hair on a summers night is awesome
you can stand up completely naked and let your balls just flop around in the wind

-wouldnt use the a/c much

-less likely to get locked out of your car

-morning drives are always fun

-with practice you can master the art of jumping INTO the car with the top down (freakin awesome when you can go into a dead run and jump in without smashing your groin)

thats about all i can come up with

on the down side it gets colder inside during winter
noiser than a coupe
heavier than a coupe
not as safe as a coupe
more moving parts to break
people can slash your top
top needs to be replaced after a few years
sudden spring showers are a b*tch
the sun fades the interior
expensive stereos just dont sound as good
people can steal your stuff easier
if you drive through an area that smells bad, your the first to know

Thats a pretty good list. One thing to add, I used to have a convertible, and it was always FREEZING when I would get in the car in the winter. My coupe seems to not let in quite as much coldness.

i drove mine in the winter...wish the insulation was a little better.

if you get a V8 vert, it makes it better.  anything else.....eh.

verts are noisier than coupes, but wtf do you expect with the rag top.  a lot of girls dig driving with the top down.

at night time, its cool to cruise top downininininnnninininin....also allows for more fun as well.  for example, you can throw **** out the car much easier, and etc blah blah lbahbala

V-6 is for real drivers. Go buy a Jetta if you want gas mileage and a chicks car. Buy a V-8 Mustang if you have no driving ability and need the extra horsepower to compensate and feel like you''''''''re fast.

I got my '02 GT convertible about 2 months ago.  My Mark VIII was dying a slow death so I was car shopping.

I like big cars.  So, trying to be the good family man I am, I was looking at an 04 Marauder, and a couple of LX Crown Vics and an old Crown Vic cop car.  You know, something big that the whole family can ride in.

Enter....the wife.

She HATES Crown Vics and Marauders.  She contends that every Crown Vic or Marquis that is sold comes with a complimentary membership to AARP.

She was scared to death I was gonna bring home a cop car or a 72 LTD wagon I was looking at, so she said, "Why don't you just get another Mustang?"

<=PERK=>
I didn't realize that was an option, but OK.
I knew what I wanted.  Leather, GT, Traction Control, Convertible and it had to be an automatic so she could drive it if she has to.

Too late to make a long story short, but I LOVE IT!!  I roasted my ass off in 100 degree heat with the top down, wind in my hair and bugs in my teeth!
Every morning, I take the girls to school with the top down and they absolutely love it too.

My Mach460 stereo system sounds just fine at speed with the top down.  If somebody is gonna dick with your car, it won't matter if it is a convertible or not, and asshole is an asshole.

I have been caught in probably 10 or 15 rain storms in the last 2 months.  Some of them some SERIOUS downpours.   But ehh.  Big deal.  Thats the cost of doing business.  Pull over and put the top up.  Big deal.  Dry off your skirt Alice and quit crying.  Carry a couple of towels in the car.  Big whoop.

Nothing beats  a moonlit convertible ride with your girl, or in my case my girls.  The whole family loves it.  Hell, even Grandma digs it.

As far as smelling unpleasant odors first, I got nothing for that. That is  100% accurate, but again, thats just the cost of doing business and looking cool.

And dont forget that in certain situations, it may drip a little bit.  Ive owned 2 verts now (97 eclipse gst and current 96 mustang) and honestly the only time Id buy another one is as a second car, like a weekend cruising car or maybe if I lived somewhere like florida where there isnt a true winter.

if its not a DD then a vert is sooo much more fun than a hardtop.  my mom has a '65 vert that we only take out on really nice days and that thing is so fun to drive, and i love just being out in the open like that and hearing all the sounds and smelling all the smells.

we have a vert and my coupe, they both have their plus sides, personally I'd rather have the coupe now, but I must agree, nothing beats driving with the top down on a perfect night      But it really comes down to personal choice and what you are going to use the car for.
and you can sure smell EVERYTHING like they said!!

+1, can't go wrong with a coupe or vert, unless you live in alaska or a very cold climate all year round.

well, the more i look into it, i might convice mom that i can 'settle' for a Trans Am vert. It'll be my DD for at least a year, parked inside or under a cover.

T-Tops> All.

I have had all three, a conv a coupe/hatchback and a T-top car- The T-tops were the best hands down. It felt solid like a coupe, didn't have any more weight, and when you get good at taking off the T-Tops doesn't take any more time than getting the top up or down. That is the ONE thing I miss about my 280ZX- the T-Tops.

This is the one i like

Ive found ones with less miles for less money, but i like the Ram Air, the others have the normal hoods.

only thing is, Im not a fan of black- Id prefer green, blue, or red

the two others:

one

two
