don't let a color of a car turn you off on it, no matter what car you get.

V-6 is for real drivers. Go buy a Jetta if you want gas mileage and a chicks car. Buy a V-8 Mustang if you have no driving ability and need the extra horsepower to compensate and feel like you''''''''re fast.

Verts just feel like pure freedom when your driving one on a beautiful day/night with the top down.

It's one of those things like, "If I have to explain it to you then you won't understand"..   Kinda similar to riding a motorcycle. People who like'em understand what it's all about. But most people who don't like them will never be convinced otherwise

I've owned coupe stangs & they're OK too,, my last one was an '86GT with a factory sunroof. Foxes look OK with a sunroof or T-roof but not New Edges or sn197's,, their body lines just don't mesh well with a sun/T roof..

I really need to get my motorcycle liscense. I have been riding dirtbikes since I was 8- but I have never taken it on the road. I bet it is quite an experience.

I strongly disagree.  If I spend the time and money it takes to own a car, I'm going to do it right.  I want to walk outside and look at my car and know without a doubt it is the best one on the road.  I think the color has a lot to do with that.  You wan to get you like and the time you spend looking will pay off in the end when you can't take your eyes off the car:)

you really cant explain it you just need to drive one to get it

its colder in the winter -- when you first get in on a negative 2 degree day, ANY car is cold, turn the heat on

they are only 200 lbs heavier then a coupe so thats what, a tenth in the quarter mile and half a mile trap? wow, big deal

when getting the 02 it was down between the 02 6 hitter vert, and an 02 GT coupe, both autos, mach 460 leather etc, payments would of been exactly the same etc it was just down to motor or roof, took the roof and havent looked back

It's about being outdoors, enjoying the sun, smells, and all the good points already listed above.  Not always having the top down, just knowing you can.  Best rides early morning or twilight over the Newport, RI bridge.  Or just down the road for ice cream with the kids.

Winter is approaching and I be putting my car away for the winter.  Makes it all that much sweeter in the Spring!

Having a vert is AWESOME.  Putting the top down and going driving on a nice day is totally unbeatable.

However, I only drive this thing maybe a thousand miles a year, so for me it is a pure fun car, no daily drivers.

This isn't because it is a vert, mind you, it is because it is so worked and I have a regular Subaru for daily driving.

Vert is okay for DD. The only down side i have with it is the HEAT in the summer. Wether its up or down, its hot all the time. AC doesnt work too well since the heat goes right through, leather seats dont help either.

but i like being able to put the top down when theres is a chance.

And for everyone else, you guys never get chicks that hate the top down? i always get chicks that always tell me, MY HAIR , I DONT WANT TO MESS IT UP.... but there are a few exceptions

I dealt with that whole, "My hair!" bitch by my wife and daughter by carrying scrunci's on the shifter handle.  They start gripeing, I toss them a scrunci & turn up the radio to drown out their incessant bitching.

Hell, I gave them a scrunci.  What do they want?

I've thought about a convertible at times, but there are some things that would bother me about having one.

1.  How long the top will last?
2.  Water leaks.
3.  Much better chance of having spiders getting in the car.
I hate spiders and I have to believe that the open air option would be like a welcome mat to spiders.
4.  Most of them don't look nearly as good with the top up.
5.  Less secure.
6.  No privacy at all when you are in traffic with the top down.
(this can be a plus or a minus...depending on the situation).

The good thing about getting a convertible is that if you keep it nice,
even if you find a convertible isn't for you, you will be able to sell it fairly easily at the right time of the year.
Selling it in the winter in snowbelt country would be a bit difficult.

Still....having a convertible on a beautiful spring or fall day, must be a real thrill.

I do ike the T-Top option better.   It is one of the reasons why I have a hard time considering getting rid of my Z-28.

Verts are great. Girls like em, it's a blast to drive, and just add FLSFC's and a strut tower brace and they're as stiff as coupes. And if you really do get too hot with the top down, put it up and leave the windows open. Otherwise, top down all the time. And why would you drive a RWD V8 car in the winter anyways?

And to answer the guy above, I've had no problems with leaks, my top looks new, and mine's a 2001.

Spiders?

I think my car looks awesome with the top up. All in the eye of the beholder.

Just as secure as any other car, what makes you think the guy won't just smash your window when he's willing to slice my top?
